Reasonable interest rates. Decent services. Finally allowing and enforcing more secure password requirements on their online banking--before they only *allowed* numbers which was entirely laughable. Recently they issued a new "Rewards" debit card, which, plainly sucks. It removed the InstantCash network, which eliminated nearly all conveniently located surcharge free ATMs. The card design is UGLY, it looks like a crappy big box store gift card you throw after one use. Not to mention the card was issued with a new number prior to expiry date. This was certainly an inconvenience to update all accounts that were being paid through that number. The institution, overall, appears to be more and more gimmicky and less professional each year. I hope someone turns this boat around, I really liked it when I started banking with them, but its been mostly downhill with the exception of "amplified" checking account which, more often than not, does pay rather than charge if you keep a reasonable balance. Their savings, on the other hand, sucks. The IRA accounts/certificates still confuse me.

A Private User

I switched to US Federal because they have lower credit card rates, and worked with me to transfer a high-interest rate balance to a much lower rate. However, beyond the initial help, the bank has been a pain. The online banking system is no good - only allowing you to pay your credit card online if you have a checking account with them. I refuse to get a checking account with them because they applied a $500 payment to the wrong account. THE WRONG ACCOUNT. Even though it had my name AND my account number on it. They have corrected the issue, and refunded interest charged due to the mix up. However, I will have to watch my account like a hawk to make sure nothing like this happens again.
