Buying a house can be a daunting undertaking for anyone, but as a recent college graduate who refused to hemorrhage any more money on paying rent in Atlanta instead of paying down a mortgage, I knew it was the right choice for me. Angel Oak made this possible. I was a first-time homebuyer, and immediately after finding the perfect starter home, I spoke with multiple loan officers and shopped rates. They all sounded the same – they all wanted to get the process moving quickly without really talking to me and understanding the type of investment I was making. That is, until I spoke with Chris Philmon at Angel Oak Home Loans. Chris wanted to understand the driving factors leading to my purchase decision. It wasn’t just a loan he and his company were going to sell, but it was ensuring that the loan they sold fit my objectives. As a first-time homebuyer, I immensely appreciated this dialogue and was keenly aware of this attention to detail prior to even being approved. After being approved, we hit the ground running – I was on a deadline to be able to meet the seller’s “drop-dead” date. While the sale had a quick turnaround timeframe, that never swayed Chris and his team at Angel Oak. At every single step of the way, I was extremely impressed with the knowledge of every member of the Angel Oak Home Loan team and their willingness to share that knowledge. There was constant communication throughout the entire process so I never felt left out in the dark. When I had questions, they were immediately answered – in a way that I could understand as a first-time homebuyer. Understanding the value of my time, the team was flexible and allowed me to call before and after typical office hours. I am now entering the first spring in my house, and as any first-time homebuyer who is being honest with him/herself would tell you, I have learned something new every day since my purchase. When I have questions, Angel Oak Home Loans is one of the first places I start looking for answers. The team continues to support me as I become a more experienced home owner. I am extremely grateful to everyone on the Angel Oak Home Loans team who made this purchase possible for me. I strongly recommend this company to anyone looking to purchase – especially first-time homebuyers like me!

Steer clear from this company! I have been buying and selling properties for almost 25 years now and I have never dealt with such an unprofessional and misleading company. I was on a 60 day escrow and they could not even close on time.. now at almost 90 days in they told me yesterday my loan was declined!! Bear in mind I have a 750 plus FICO, great assets and tons of cash and make a great income(they claim I was denied because of my debt to income ratio because of all my rental properties-that have over 25% equity in them and run fluidly).. either way to take 90 days and drag this out and tell me they are declining after they told me I was locked in and we were closing this Friday is just plain ridiculous and un-professional at best.. they had weeks to go through all of this and they sat on it .. now I am almost ready to lose this house and forfeit my deposit. Stay away!! Worst experience ever and I have closed 30 day escrows every time and on time. 1 review 1.0 star rating 8/23/2017 I have been buying and selling properties for over 20 years and have purchased over 25 properties in my lifetime... I have never had a worse experience than what I just went through with Angel Oak Home Loans.. My FICO is 750 plus , with great income and tons of assets/cash and they had a 60 day escrow to close me... we are almost 90 days in now and they just told me yesterday my loan was declined!!! Crazy... I had 3-4 other lenders jumping at me and the only reason I used them is they lured me with a lower interest rate and told me they could handle me easily.. what a nightmare.. Steer clear from this company if you have any sense. Prior to this I closed every escrow on time with no issues and on 30 day escrows. On top of this they refused to refund me any appraisal fees for not-performing. Stay away! UPDATED 09-06-17, CORPORATE MANAGEMENT CONTACTED ME AND REVIEWED MY CASE AND CLEARLY SAW I WAS MIS-HANDLED TO SAY THE LEAST ... THEY AGREED TO REFUND MY APPRAISAL FEES WHICH I AM APPRECIATIVE OF. IT WAS AN UNFORTUNATE SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED.

I was referred by a friend who owns her own business and she raved that Rick Fantucci was amazing. Although, I reached out to bigger banks like PNC and Wells Fargo, I decided to go with Rick at Angel Oak because he seemed very knowledgeable from the start. I had a great experience with Rick, he always respond to me very promptly. On many occasions he went above and beyond to help feel more comfortable about the entire experience from purchasing a home to closing on the loan. I would definitely refer more business to him in the future.
