Working with National General has been a nightmare. The people employed at this location are unprofessional and rude. As a first time insurance buyer, I had several questions and procedures that I need explained to me, the receptionist never once took the time to explain any processes to me and cut off me mid sentence on several different occasions. I cancelled insurance with them because they were overpricing my insurance by almost 70 dollars. After doing research with other companies, I realized I could BETTER coverage and save $68 dollars a month. I cancelled on August 31st with proof of insurance...today is September 9th and they have withdrawn money for my account for the month of September. They tried to say they never received cancellation and now they have refused to give me a full refund and they said the best they can do is put a check in the mail that will take 10-14 business days to receive. This is absolutely unacceptable. I will forever warn all family, friends, and colleagues to stay away from this business. They will take advantage of you.

I wish I could give them no stars. I have had this insurance company for 10 years and have never had a problem because I never had a claim. This year I was in a bad accident with all 4 of my kids that totaled my car. They are the worst insurance company. The monthly rates are good, but if you ever have an accident or claim, they will totally screw you. They were such a pain to deal w and completely handled the case as if it was just a deadline to finish by. They did no investigation into the crash. What is the point of paying for insurance monthly if when you get in a wreck your own company completely screws you? I will never recommend this company to anyone and will never have insurance with them again. I would rather pay more monthly then ever deal with this company in the future. If you look at their reviews, all the high stars are just reviewing rates and customer service getting the rates. All the people who actually had a claim, gave them the low stars because it is a nightmare dealing with them.

These guys do not even deserve 1 star for the assistance they provided me. I was involved in an accident which was not my fault. It was actually the fault of the individual that was insured by NGIC. There was a police report filed and the insured admitted in the police report that it was their fault. I went in circles with these guys for 8 months. They did not move forward without my constant push via email/phone calls. There was a point where there was 40 days of silence where the agent either completely forgot about my claim, or thought if they did nothing the issue would just go away. Each conversation I had with the agent there was a new form requested, which I promptly filled out. The insurance company finally agreed to pay me when I threatened legal action...and after I sent in about 12 different forms that were requested.

1. On obtaining Ins. verification cares and placing Veh. in and out of storage I dealt with a young lady named Paige. She was awesome. No haggling, no problem, she understood my needs as a customer. Whatever she is earning is not enough :) Respectfully, Ursulo Cook 2. On a claim that I submitted, Nat. Gen. has a phone application that guides one in taking Photos. of a car. It was awesome, fast, secure and covered all portions of the car that I would not have thought of. Took a Photo. of the white sticker on the door jam, the actual odometer on the dash. Talked to salesman on phone. He was very professional and helpful. I got the same coverage I had with GEICO for about $200.00 cheaper every 6 months. I was able to add renters insurance and still come out cheaper. I was very impressed with the service and helpfulness. I do not understand everything to do with insurance and he took the time and explained it to me. Very impressed. I have found the company I will stay with as long as my rates do not go up. And my rates are guaranteed for a year. With GEICO, it was only guaranteed for 6 months and then it went up $122.00 every 6 months after first 6 months with no tickets or accidents or claims!

Do not use this insurance company. If you ever go to make a claim, they look for any reason to deny it. Last week I hit a deer, and caused front end damage to my vehicle. The first lady I spoke to was great. They set me up with a rental car. Then it got turned over to a very rude lady who was basically telling me from 4 states away that I did not hit a deer. I have full coverage insurance. The vehicle is covered no matter what. I warn you to not use this company. They are horrible!!!!! I have now had to retain a lawyer, and my vehicle is just sitting at the body shop. I am now reporting them to the Insurance Commission.

I wish there was a way to rate National General Insurance lower than single star. They kept a lower premium when I bought the policy and later within two months almost doubled it without providing any reason. I think this is a very unethical practice. Their customer service do not respond on email even after repeated follow ups. One has to always call the customer service to understand the reason for the increase which is also not provided clearly and rife with legal jargons. Additionally the customer service is only from Monday thru Friday during office hours making it difficult to enquire after work hours.

I spoke with a gentleman named Jake, and he was the most helpful and professional person I have dealt with in a long time. He took plenty of time to throughly explain everything so that I had no concerns or questions, and spent a good deal of time explaining the entire policy to me. Ms. Gunkler, an agent here in Ohio was exceptionally helpful. She took the time for me to understand the details of the home insurance and walked me through the process all throughout. She explained in detail what is expected of me and the lender. We worked on the rates itself as to how much I will be paying and how much I can afford. I had been with National General Insurance since I was hired into General Motors in 1979. They have been the best insurance Company I have had the experience of employing. Great response and follow through of all claims I have submitted and insure all my trailers and toys as well as great rates on my house and automobiles. Do not think this is strictly for house or auto only. All personnel are very friendly and informed sympathizing with your situation.

I could not have paid for better service than I received when I called trying to get homeowners insurance. I spoke with my auto insurance provider first. They could not provide coverage. Goodbye. I called National, and although I was told the first few companies could not provide coverage, and although it took some time on the phone, the rep refused to give up until he found coverage at a fantastic price. I changing my auto insurance too!

They were very helpful and courteous, they listened and did everything they said that they would do. When I found a better rate with another company (which turned out to be a mistake) they were able to find a better rate for me and did exactly what they said they were going to do. I must carry an SR-22 and they worked with me to keep the cost down and give me a little more than state minimum. I am very pleased and would recommend them.

Had a accident per agreement with the other insurance they would cover there policy holder and mine could cover me. They charged me points because they said the other person filed a claim. When I ask for documentation of this as proof they would not give it to me. These employees must get bonuses for screwing people over. I fully intend to lobby our new governor for changes in the insurance companies i think everyone should!

I purchased a home owners policy on an older house in an unusual situation as the previous owner had begun renovations then took gravely ill so much left to be done The sales person was very helpful and knowledgeable and the policy very comprehensive at a good price. Paying monthly was not much more $. Very much better than other companies and I checked with 5 myself plus had independents look. Would definitely recommend.

OMG, where do I start!!! God help you if you have a claim. They will do everything in their power to delay paying anything. Worst part is the run around they give you, blaming one another for the delay. Its been 7 months and I STILL have supplements sitting on their desk!!! GO TO SAFECO, they are 1/2 ad much and waaaay better service!!! I mostly spoke with the unprofessional goofballs in Ohio, Mark, Michelle, Tom in claims

I would be cautious if you file a claim with this insurance company. They investigate a claim after they send out the "independent" appraiser and then make allegations of mold/mildew and rot, after an antennna was damaged, I guess the insurance company can provide misleading information to the state investigator and its normal business, but if the insured provides misleading information its fraud, or you get cancelled.

Joseph Jr rocks! I had an awesome experience and getting my new policy which started out with a phone call and me being in a bad mood because my old insurance company but he got everything fixed right away and my insurance is $100 a month cheaper than before plus my coverage is way more extensive. I recommend them to anyone especially Joseph junior he was a joy to talk to and it worked hard to fix the problem.

They will not get off the phone with you until you are 100% satisfied. I’m so lucky to be part of this caring insurance company. They only allow to accept 5 stars meaning excellent.
