Tourist trap! $20 to get into the national recreation area the dam is in, $10 to park you car at the dam. $10 a head to get into the visitor center to watch a 10 minute movie and $10-$30 a head for the dam tour. Or little family of five was poised to spend $230 plus more money at the restaurant. Prior to leaving Vegas to go on the hour long drive to get to the dam we checked the dams website and their Facebook page to make sure tours were running (they had recently reopened them after some maintenance issues) and everything looked good. Upon arrival and after paying the $20 to get into the park and $10 parking they had a sign that said all tours closed due to issues with the elevators. They had broken down the day before but nobody updated the site almost a full day later. When we complained about the $30 and the 2.5 hours of wasted time they said "sorry, the web person is on the way in to update the site". So, in almost 24 hours, not one person has access to FB or their site to say "sorry, tours not running today"? I do web development and social media marketing for a living and this is pathetic. Any monkey with admin rights on FB could have done this from their phone and not wasted the time and money for the hundreds of people they turned away that day. I was super pumped to see the dam and go on the tour and all I got was a bad taste in my mouth from the experience. CALL AHEAD TO MAKE SURE TOURS ARE RUNNING BEFORE YOU GO! DO NOT TRUST THEIR FACEBOOK PAGE OR OFFICIAL WEBSITE FOR UPDATES!

Really and ancient marvels created by man humanity has no limits, this is one of many creations in which the man demonstrated his amazing ability of genius and skill planning as I am a subject of low purchasing power and never Podre travel; use this beautiful app of google maps. for similarly power I also enjoy through the technology of the many beauties like this that makes me proud, belong to an intelligent species, but I marvel at this, but it saddens me when intelligence is used to kill for pleasure or for the greedily craving simple fact; inhecesarias power or wealth.

You must look at who comes this way. Wikipedia sums up very well the history. They soon built the 1930as be years, but later began to be used. 2 to trip can also be paid. 3 types of tickets are $ 10 you can get tickets to a holiday center, 15 had a half-hour trip they take, plus $ 30 one-hour tour can be taken in addition to the previously emitetteken. I was there the day after Christmas when it was closed and all. But it also led to upward of cars. So it was worth checking out, even without any ticket good program to restrict purchases.

Did not use any tricks yet, a tourist visiting the Hoover Dam between Arizona and Nevada are two states of the United States has done wonders: water poured from the bottle to flow back up into the sky. The secret of incredible performances talent does not lie in the young female travelers, which depends on the context. According to experts, the structure of the dam creates an upward air flow, water entrained poured from the bottle in the direction of its movement. This makes the water against gravity, backflow from the bottle to the sky as we see in the video.

Already an imposing architectural masterpiece. Definitely worth a visit. The tour of the dam I had been through times, did not find her but so beautiful in person, although it was quite informative. I advise you to look at the dam and from the slightly higher gelgenen jumper Interstate 93 at the dam every anyway. Shortly after the security checkpoint on the way to Hoover Dam, there is a small parking lot. There you can park and walk up to the bridge. This takes a few minutes and the view is worth it!

We went in a rental car in passing of the Las Vegas tourism. Frankly, I did not expect too much, to the super-giant dam of the scale, simply just overwhelmed. I learned a big impression. There is a parking fee to immediately place across the dam, but there was a free parking to further the mountainside beyond here. Japan amount of water stored large Kurobe Dam whopping 40 billion tons a water volume of the Hoover Dam to 200 million tons. Order of magnitude was size. Tour center of exhibitions and power plant tour was also good and interesting knowledge packed. In addition, there is a large Colorado River Bridge to face-to-face of the dam, because it overlooks the dam from this sidewalk, I will recommend that you stop by after the dam tour.

Great building and you can see what man can bring positive about. We walked not only over the dam, but also have made a guided tour of the Hoover Dam. Only there you can see its dimensions properly. Parking is available for free on the Arizona side. On the two towers left and right of the dam you can see the time zones between Nevada and Arizona, a clear view with the two watches. Not to be missed if you are in Las Vegas. Driving time to the dam of Vegas by car about 1 hour.

Yes the feature of the Dam and its history is cool however with that being said- its expensive to fully immerse into the experience. They charge you $10 for parking, $10 just to enter the visitor center, upwards of $30 for a tour of the dam (which you cant book ahead of time so you could be waiting for a couple of hours until your tour starts). You cant even get into the old exhibits without a paid ticket. We walked across the bridge (there isnt anything very notable marking where the state lines are- except a small plaque- what happened to the signage on the road itself?)... which costs $10 because you have to pay to park. Otherwise you can drive over it and wait for all the tourists that run across the street in front of your car or stop to load and unload passengers (which youre not supposed to do). This area also does not have a cancellation stamp for your NP passport book (unlike places like flaming gorge dam). There is a gift shop and small cafe you can spend your money on while you wait hours for your tour.

The Mistake I Had in My Hoover Dam Visit Last December our family visited Hoover Dam but because we did not have time to do a lot of research, we made a mistake that caused us spending two days, driving there two times. Usually people only need to schedule one day to visit Hoover Dam. The mistake was: When we firstly saw the Greatness Bridge where many visitors were walking on the Bridge, we were so excited and parked our car near the site and spent a couple of hours there and thought this was the main sightseeing activity for Hoover Dam visit and we even did not try to drive down to the Hoover Dam visitor information center. Until we returned to the hotel in Vegas and talked with a friend about the visit, I have realized we missed the main tours within the Hoover Dam. The Greatness Bridge walking is not the main Hoover Dam visit activity. So the next day we drove there and had enjoyed the tours that taught us the history, insights about the Hoover Dam. I shared more details and other information in youishare.

MUST-GO - at least at the first East tour. What to see, we already know. Through traffic now runs on the new high bridge, from where you can make great photos. And suddenly the dam is so small ... Next visit probably interested in the tourists (all shapes and sizes) from around the world. Languages, types, how they behave ... German. Therefore - not just drive past, even if the now is much more convenient. The two hours should be over. THANK YOU.

Without a big crazy but worth a visit this historical place. From the engineering 3 5. From the historical 5 5. Very good history exhibition. Walking installation is limited to one side of the hall generators. In addition, the wing is provided with an exhibition of the history of the dam. You can park after crossing the dam. I would recommend a reservation at least 3 hours to explore (we lacked the time of the canyon).

I have to say although a spectacular site, I am very disappointed with the agency in charge of the tours at the Hoover Dam. We paid $68.00 for a family of five for a 30 min. tour. We were only able to do the generator tour because the bigger tour was all sold out. I did a lot of research before our trip, and nowhere was it written they have limited tickets available. I truly feel the generator tour was a rip off. Should be part of my $10.00 parking fee. So for all of you travelling to the Hoover Dam if you want the full tour Dam buy tickets before 1p or you get stuck on the mediocre generator tour. FYI they sell 20 tickets per full tour visit. Another head knocking thing for me is why could I not purchase tickets in advance? I think once they get you in they force you into paying for something that is not worth your hard earned cash. Anyone else agree?

The dam itself is a feat and a marvel of engineering and totally worth visiting to see the scale of just what it takes to stop up a river like the Colorado. That said all the tourist aspects of the site are just terrible. $10 to park in either the garage on the Nevada size or the partially covered lot on the Arizona side when you can just walk a bit further from the free parking is a complete rip off. $10 to just ENTER the visitor center at a Federal Department of the Interior site is completely unforgivable. Let alone the extra fees if you want to take the tour. My family came down the elevator with our stroller and 2 children to be told at the security checkpoint (really?) that we would have to throw away all of the snacks we had for our 2 year old and 18 month old. We instead decided to walk back to our car across the dam slower.

Certainly a masterpiece of engineering. I took with my wife a Tour from Las Vegas where we first by the bridge between the State of Nevada to Arizona and is directly opposite the Dam! Then we reached the dam and take an internal tour in which it is lowered to the generators. It is very alicunante be there! And then he gets on the cover of the dam for spectacular views.

One of the modern engineering wonders, one must visit and learn the uniqueness of this DAM.This place is just 30 miles from LAS Vegas. Dam is built in between nevada and arizona border.i recommend to take Hoover Dam Tour ( better in nov, dec, jan, feb months, all other months it will be pretty hot at the bottom of the DAM) , which includes both power plant tour and passageways within the dam itself. You can go until bottom of DAM using a elevator and go through a tunnel to see the front face of DAM, You can take a unique selfie picture of DAM from its window ( be careful of your device while trying to take this picture) . Guides who work here will explain nicely all the engineering techniques they used to construct this DAM. You can feel the CONCRETE WALLS of DAM and sound of water hitting the DAM.

Very cute, is impressive construction. I had never seen anything like it and think that energy avastece all Las Vegas. It has a general admission ticket, which allows cross it out, then this guided inside which is payable separate visit. It is located between Nevada and Arizona, as we can see watches with their respective schedules. An incredible feat of engineering.

Not impressed at all. My husband and I were very excited to do the full price Dam Tour ($30 each). We arrived at 9:45 am and were told the next tour would be at 12:00. We waited and looked at some of the exhibits they had on display. At 11:00 I started to feel very sick and I could not hardly leave the bathroom. My husband went to the desk and asked the ticket salesperson if we could possibly be reimbursed since I was sick and unable to go. The ticket salesperson called over a very frumpy manager and she explained to us that the company could not reimburse us for the tickets. She even told my husband that if we changed our minds, we could still go. My husband and I were so upset at the whole situation--we ended up just giving our 60$ tickets away for free to someone in line.

Beautiful to look at and a great desert landscape. Personally, I had imagined the dam bigger, but I was pleasantly surprised that the masses are stowed on water there. As funny side effect of course is also the border of Arizona and Nevada, and time zone, which is located right by the Hoover Dam. For me a beautiful goal in transit.
