We contacted the Jeff Scott office upon the recommendation of a friend. We wished to have an estate plan developed and update our will. We worked with Katherine Wertheim Iacarella, one of the associates in the office. The process was straightforward and efficient. Katherine was very knowledgeable and assured of the process and associated laws, and the various options of how to approach the details of the estate plan. There was no cost to the initial meeting, and the fee structure to accomplish the estate plan was a flat fee, all costs clearly explained up front, no surprises. I called a couple other estate planning attorneys to compare the fee with other offices, and the fee quoted by Katherine was more reasonable than any other fee I was quoted by other offices, and it was difficult to find other offices who were willing to have a package fee (instead they seem to charge per item and were non-specific about the exact fee per item and not willing to give a total amount). The transparent and packaged fee structure is one of the key advantages of working with this office. I would definitely recommend this office for your will and estate planning needs.

I think Katherine’s top notch, I was very impressed. They are professional and efficient in completing their work. I was very impressed with the people that worked there. The front desk staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable. Katherine was very efficient, knowledgeable, helpful, patient, and understanding in the changes that we were making. My husband and I were a little bit hesitant about what firm to use in light of the fact that we are a gay married couple. We never felt a bit of uneasiness there. When we were done with the work, we were handed a three ring binder with all of the estate planning documents. It was very well organized, very professional, well presented and put together. It was also very concise showing you step by step what was needed (contact these people, do this this way etc…). We had done estate planning before and this was by far the most professional end product that we’ve ever gotten. Katherine’s firm had documentation that was clear and concise. When we got there she had completely reviewed everything and was thoroughly ready to meet with us. I was very impressed with that.

My wife and I had a few areas to address including a purchase of a home, long term care of a family member, and general estate planning. Amanda did an excellent job in listening to us making notes of our concerns and wishes for us and our children. More importantly, she asked questions that we just simply would not have thought of. While professional and organized in her approach, Amanda was genuine with us and in her desire to represent us through such difficult topics. The best thing about working with Katherine was having the feeling that we have our matters in order. She helped us understand by walking us through scenarios until we found the one that would benefit us best. I feel comfortable now and that would be a reason why I would recommend them. She is patient enough to go through things with you until you understand. I feel that she was thorough, approachable, friendly, and patient. When we interjected with questions she would always take the time to ensure we understood the process. I really appreciated that. Overall they were professional and timely. Once we met with her I liked that she took the time to get to know us to gain an understanding of where we were coming from. Some places dive right into the business end of things. I appreciate that she took a little bit of time to get to know us.

We used Katie (Katherine Wertheim Iacarella) to update our documents that were initially done by Jeffrey Scott, who was also great to work with. We knew we would return to that firm. Katie was very professional & at the same time warm & approachable. Her suggestions for some changes in wording on our existing docs were very helpful & would make the process easier for our 2 grown children to do the necessary tasks when the time comes. They do not both live in MN, so this was a good suggestion. Katie read personalities & situations very well & used a sense of humor to defuse a potentially explosive situation, followed by very clear, concise explanations of the importance of avoiding probate. I would highly recommend Katie to anyone as a very competent estate planning atty. She made it a pleasant experience, despite challenges.

Jeff was extremely knowledgeable, we both enjoyed working with him, and his price was reasonable. What more can you ask for? Jeff Scott prepared Living Trusts for us, POAs, updated Healthcare Directives and other accompanying documents in January 2015. I’ve worked with 3 other estate planning attorneys in the past and this was my best experience. Jeff really listened to what we wanted to do, raised some excellent points and offered sound advice. Working with him was a very pleasing process. I felt his hourly rate was competitive; he accomplished things efficiently and we were very pleased with the final result. My experience with Jeffrey Scott was limited to a quick phone call, but he was able to provide more useful information than I was able to find through hours of self-directed research. I called Jeffrey P. Scott & Associates, LLC looking for lawyer to help with a home renovation dispute. My knowledge of law is limited, and It turns out that they do not specialize in my type of case, but Jeff was able to provide a means to finding a law firm that fit my needs, concisely gave useful advice, and most importantly educated me on a few of the finer points of my dispute. I will definitely be going to Jeffrey P. Scott & Associates, LLC if I ever need services related to estate planning.
