My review will be in three parts :) Must stop at park loop road. Specially in falls” - Jordan Pond, Though we don’t have that much of time in hand, but we did some R and D on Acadia. So, we decided to stop here. place is so beautiful that you can just sit here for hours (provided no crowd is there) or you can find such spots in its 90 mins trails around the pond. In fall, we come to know why we love bright color so much. Bring your camera for sure. North and south bubble point are visible … we had some fun nearby pond... You can easily spend 1-2 hours here... “Astounding view around you with calm atmosphere” - Cadillac Mountain, You reach here and you come to know why Acadia national park is 2nd most visited park in USA. so, scenic beauties and view… 10 mins’ trail. you can spot so many island from here. Sunrise or sunset. Both offers breathtaking view… in evening or sep onwards it is breezy so get your warm clothes. of course, you will have camera. But sometimes we think we are becoming too materialistic. You can spend 2-3 hours easily. “Scenic ride with great stop. not all places can offer this much” - Park Loop Road, Acadia National Park First of all, start your day as early as you can if you are planning to cover all spots in one day. as it has 7-8 “must stop” points. I have stopped at three places only (Cadillac mountain, bar harbor and Jordon point). i missed thunder hole which you must go. In fall, you think like driving all time, if you go on weekday you will not encounter with crowd and driving will be so calm. And of course, you will get parking easily which we did not get so easily. Each stop offers different thing… save time for Cadillac mountain and its sunset.

Acadia national park is unique in that it was formed by donations of land from private individuals. We made the drive from Boston in late summer and while it was a long drive it was well worth it. The park offers a great driving audio tour that I would recommend for first time visitors. It really gives you a good taste for what the park has to offer. But be sure to get out and do some walking as the audio tour suggests in certain places. Much of the park is a dramatic meeting of land and sea with rocky outcropping and crashing waves. Mt. Cadillac is certainly worth a visit too. It boasts being the first place in the mainland US to see the light of dawn. The towns of Bar Harbor and Northeast Harbors were highlights of the trip as well. Plan to spend a few days if you can and realize why they call Maine "Vacation Land"

Acadia N. P. is a great find for cyclists. The main park loop is 2 lanes and only ONE WAY most of the way around the park and a decent shoulder for an experienced road cyclist. The climb up Cadillac Mountain is a good workout but able to be done as the incline gives a great workout in the big gears. An incredible place for the summer heat is never that bad here. Camping spots do not have showers but the local store have a coin operated shower if you are interested in roughing it. Plenty of shopping places down in Bar Harbor. The local lobster rolls are a good thing to try if you have never had one. Hikes in the park are a good time with a lot fewer people, so you can get away and get out to see a little wildlife.

A lovely area. Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain and the Park Loop Rd were very busy with full car parks when we went in October. The Park Loop Road is one way so one idea maybe to go straight to Jordan Pond and / or Cadillac Mountain first on the 2 way stretch of road, and then do the Loop Road later. The $25 car pass last for a week so you can come and go in/out of the park as often as you like in that time, 24 hours a day. The west of the park towards Bernard and North East Harbor were much quieter and more us. Although you can walk on any of the trails and escape most of the crowds as they mainly stay within a short distance of the car.

Although only visited by car, following a comfortable circular route mostly one-way (Park Loop Rd), with frequent possibility of parking on the right side of the roadway, offered us fantastic views and unforgettable images such as Sand Beach, Tundher Hole, Otter Point and Cadillac Mountain.

Its pretty awesome out here, but not awe inspiring... Girl and I took a 1900 mile (one-way) motorcycle trip out here and we were a bit disappointed. People pump this up more than it deserves. Bar harbor is a very busy tourist town and traffic is pretty slow. The park Itself is ok but nothing compared to Yellowstone or Glacier national parks. The one good thing is the roads through the park have two lanes one way.( no backups!) If camping make reservations or stay nearby. We camped at Bar Harbor Campground which was very nice and is Cash Only! Also, everybody everywhere we went was extremely friendly and helpful.

Visited during peak of fall foilage; the weather was perfect and the views were spectacular. Started the week off on the water with a nature tour which was a great way to get an understanding of the history, topography and geological formation. I think this really helped set the stage for visiting the park. The park is stunning; it was really neat to see Sand Beach from Cadillac Mountain and then to visit Sand Beach and look up to the mountain top. Be sure to explore some other areas of Mount Desert Island such as Northeast and Southwest Harbors and Seal Beach. The whole MDI is very beautiful and interesting.

I wish I could have spent a week here, instead we had almost a day. If you only have a little time, take the Loop Road Tour (with the soundtrack you can buy at the visitor center.) Plan to be at Thunder Hole about 2 hours before peak High Tide so you can watch the tide come in, beautiful and powerful Mother Nature. The surroundings seem too good to be true. If you hike, walk or ride a bike, you will definitely enjoy this park. If it is a clear day, the view from Cadillac Mountain is worth the time to drive up. Bring your camera too. This is the cleanest, prettiest NP I have visited in the East.

My dad lives here so I go here most summers and I love it here. There are so many hikes, bike rides along the carriage paths, and other outdoor activities, along with more relaxed activities like having tea and pop overs at Jordan Pond house. The area around the park makes it even better because within easy driving distance you have Bar Harbor and the other small harbor towns that have restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. Must do places are Cadillac mountain (accessible by car), otter cliffs, Thunder hole, sand beach, and exploring bar harbor (technically not part of the park but very close).

Wow! What a park! Acadia has coastal attractions, hiking and biking trails, bridle paths, carriageways, mountain climbing, kayaking, and wagon rides. The visitors center explains opportunities at the park, but visitors would be wise to bone-up on possible activities before arrival. Picturesque Bar Harbor is the largest town on the Mount Desert Island and offers shopping, hotels, restaurants, etc., but many smaller communities dot the island. These quaint areas outside the park offer less crowds as well as facilities for locals, summer residents, and visitors, alike.

That was cool. Have properly geschmökert and very special souvenirs found. Just great this store. One star deduction because the staff do not ever know what it with some items has to go. This can easily take 15 minutes to have everything being together.

This national Park is beautiful! We walked along the Ocean Path for incredible views. Loved hearing the buoy bell, the birds, and the wind. We had an ice cream at Jordan Pond and then drove up to Cadillac Mountain for a great view of the bays, islands, and Bar Harbor. Then drove around to Bass Head to the lighthouse. We also hiked around near Long Pond and on some carriage paths. Would have loved to have cycled on the carriage paths but the shuttles were not running yet from the bike rental stores. We will be back again for sure!

While Acadia National Park in Maine is famous for its sunrises, stay after dark to view incredible night skies and experience Acadia’s rocky coastline by starlight. Dark night skies are great for stargazing and serve as a crucial resource for nocturnal plants and animals. Sunrise breaks the winter chill at Acadia National Park in Maine. As you admire the snow reflecting the morning light and listen to the waves lap at the stony shoreline, feel the warmth of another day welcome you to this beautiful place.

The park has everything - great hiking - can be easy or challenging. The explorer bus gets you around the park without having to drive or spend any money. Loved that. The views were great, and Jordan Pond House is a great place to get popovers at the end of the hiking. At the end of a day in the park, you can go back to a quiet campground or a nice hotel. You can head into a fancy meal in Bar Harbor or a local place along the roadside. At Acadia, you can create whatever type of vacation you want.

We did a drive through. A day pass is $25 for a car and a year pass is $50. Quite honestly even driving through this time of year is breathtaking. The leaves were starting to turn colors and the weather is getting a bit crisp. Although it drizzled a good portion of our drive the views were worth it. However it can get busy so plan for a day and make sure to bring a good rain jacket if you plan on hiking. Parking can fill up quickly on the lookout spots but I think the wait is worth it.

The park ranger at the desk was super helpful and helped us pick a great hiking trail that I highly recommend! Emory path to Shiff, up Dorr Mt. down to gorge path, head north to hemlock trail, then back to the parking lot on juniper loop. We also stopped off at thunder bowl to watch high tide come in and create some really cool spray. The views are amazing, the waterfalls are amazing, the whole place was simply beautiful. Also a plus: saw a wild turkey for the first time.

Beautiful national park with recreation options for just about everyone. There are amazing hiking trails, various boat tours on the harbor, driving on Park Loop Rd, sunrise/sunset viewing experiences on Cadillac Mountain, biking on the carriage roads, and exploring the vibrant resort town of Bar Harbor. Just make sure you plan enough time for all your Acadia adventures. We were able to hit quite a few of the highlights in 2.5 days, but really wish we had a few extra days.

One of the best places on earth. Some of the trails here are best described as a giant natural jungle gym for adults. Scaling sheer rock walls? Check. Tough hikes through dense forest? Check. Easy strolls along gently sloping clear water ponds? Check. Swimming in a pristine ocean beach surrounded by forest? Check. Hiking, biking, swimming, climbing or just relaxing lazily on a granite rock shaped by a glacier overlooking the Atlantic ocean, its ALL here. Amazing place

Be sure to try and time this at prime fall color. Sure, there will be more people but if you go in during the week when it opens, that helps and you can still find quiet places. Trust me, it will be worth it once you see the leaves ablaze with color. Check out the lighthouse, go on a hike as fallen leaves lead the way, take a bike ride on the great trail system, and get a smoked or grilled lobster somewhere that feels right. A wonderful place to experience!

Pretty views, though extremely crowded and not great for hiking with little kids. Views obscured by fog and chilly mornings with intense sun on the beaches and in open areas. Layers are a must. Reservations required for just about everything. Long drives due to one way roadways. Long lines for bathrooms, congested parking areas, difficult scheduling around the needs of young children and stressful in a place that you might hope to relax.
