I sought Melissa out for my uncontested divorce with a flat rate. My ex and I worked out all the details. We needed a QDRO for our settlement which was an additional flat fee. A year after the divorce has been final I am still trying to get this done. Her office has submitted three versions to the plan that have been rejected due to clearly written requirements that the office did not follow. Each time, I was the one who had to find out why the order was rejected and get the ball rolling again to correct the mistake. I asked that they submit via fed-ex and offered to pay for it because one version was simply not received. I was promised they would by her paralegal, but it was likely not done because I asked for a tracking number and was never provided one. I asked them to verify the language with the plan before sending to the judge to sign and again this was not done. After each rejection, the office has not only been unresponsive to my concerns but has repeatedly giving me false information (promising they would call me back, send me documents, follow up). Most recently today, I was notified the QDRO was again rejected in June. The plan sent a letter to my attorney and it was returned. In July, Melissa Winkler-York assured me it was all taken care of and that she spoke to the contact at the plan. Today I spoke to the same contact and she said they still does not have the required documentation and the QDRO is not approved. I will be seeking a refund of the money paid for this QDRO as clearly this office in not competent to finalize. My divorce was smooth otherwise, but like I said my ex and I basically worked out all the information and just had the attorney complete paperwork. I would not recommend this office.

I let my son go to Indiana to visit his father on a temporary basis. After doing so, I received an Emergency Hearing notice for child custody from the father. I reside in California, and received the notice just one day before it was to be decided in an Indiana court. Needless to say, I was in a very tight spot and had to quickly retain a competent Indiana attorney who practiced Family Law and could represent my interests at that hearing, or I would lose my son. The receptionist, Danielle, was sympathetic to my plight (my son has special needs). She immediately checked the schedule, and as luck would have it, attorney Zach Phillips had a cancellation and agreed to take the case! I am happy to report that Zach got the job done! This morning, the judge said that my son would have to be returned to me immediately! Hiring Zach was the BEST decision I ever made!
