We had the pleasure of working with Kirsh and Kirsh to adopt our son Aidan. As one can imagine, the process of adopting a child can be an emotional and stressful experience. However, I cannot think of anyone I would rather have guiding me through the process than Steve and Joel Kirsh and the staff at their firm. When we had questions there was always someone available to take our call and provide answers. And, if something had to be researched or looked into they always got back to us in a timely manner. They were not only accessible, but also approachable. (I really appreciated that as I got closer to our son’s expected arrival date they were very patient with my neurotic-first-time-mother questions and reassured me that everything would be okay!) While they were very encouraging throughout the process they were also very honest and explained possibilities to us so we could be prepared in case we hit any bumps along the road. In addition to being there for us, the Kirshes were also a comfort to our birthmother whom we were matched with using the Kirsh Directed Approach. Our birthmother is a phenomenal young woman and we are so grateful that we were able to match with her. The fact that Kirsh and Kirsh did all the work to find her through the Directed approach took that stress off of our plate so that we could focus on preparing to become parents. And, although they always made it clear that the firm represented us, they answered any of our birthmother’s questions so that she had the information she needed to continue with her adoption plan. I know that she appreciated having a resource to call on and I was grateful that she didn’t feel alone during what was a very emotional and difficult time for her. From helping us get our approval process started, to editing our birthmother letter, to finding the most wonderful birthmother and son, to celebrating with us on Adoption Day, I cannot think of a more qualified or more caring team of individuals to guide you through the adoption process. Because of our wonderful experience with Kirsh and Kirsh, I highly recommend them as THE firm to call when beginning the adoption process, whether you live in Indiana or not!

About two years ago, my husband and I had a consultation with Kirsh and Kirsh about adoption. We decided to pursue our foster care license while we saved money for adoption, and we were unexpectedly matched with a birth mother through our foster care agency. Our agency provided us with a list of attorneys, and we chose one from the list. Because the attorney our agency recommended dropped the ball, the birth father’s consents were not signed in time and he decided to object to the adoption. A month after bringing our newborn daughter home from the hospital, our attorney called to inform us that the birth father, who was in jail for strangling the birth mother, had filed a paternity action. His advice was to immediately return our daughter to her birth mother and not pursue the case because it would cost us at least $50,000 and we would surely lose. As soon as we hung up from our attorney, our first instinct was to call Kirsh and Kirsh. We knew their reputation preceded them; if anyone could help, it would be them. My husband dialed the number and spoke to the secretary, fully expecting to have to leave a message. To our surprise, we were instead patched through to Steve Kirsh. He took twenty minutes out of his day to speak to us even though we were not his clients, and he referred us to a litigation attorney. Mr. Kirsh even took the time to call a few days after we spoke to him to reassure us that we had made a good decision and to ask if there was anything else he could do to help. Just after our daughter turned eight months old, we were represented in court by the attorney Mr. Kirsh had recommended. The next day, we received the call we had been waiting for: the judge had found the birth father unfit to parent and granted our adoption petition. Because Mr. Kirsh took the time to speak to us even though we were not his clients, our daughter will stay in the safe, loving family she has known since birth. Our lives are forever touched by the compassion, empathy, and encouragement shown to us by Mr. Kirsh, and we know without a doubt that he truly does hold the best interests of children first and foremost in his heart.

I began my adoption journey with Kirsh and Kirsh, and I consider myself very fortunate to have found them. I have had a superb experience with this team, and I can give them the absolute highest recommendations. The adoption process can be very emotionally challenging and unpredictable, and the Kirshes approach it with the right mixture of determination to achieve the goal and respectful support. They explain the process very well right from the start so the expectations are set at a realistic level. Although I will most likely end up adopting internationally, I would return to this agency in a heartbeat if I were considering domestic adoption again. I have known and worked with Kirsh and Kirsh for about 18 months, and I have known of them for longer, since I have friends who also adopted their son through them, with great satisfaction. I have mainly interacted with Steve and Josh, and both of them were always very professional, responsive, and kind. Throughout my work with them, they responded within hours to my emails and were easily contacted by telephone on the same day. They answered all my questions in great detail and with immense knowledge and patience. They both also have a good sense of humor, which makes a potentially stressful process a lot more fun. They are genuinely interested in making good matches, and they are flexible in their approach if they think that this is in the best interest of a baby, a birthmother, and prospective adoptive parents. In my experience, Kirsh and Kirsh do exactly what they say they will do, and without fail. They are competent, reliable, trustworthy, and fair. I truly could not give them any higher marks. They are a fantastic domestic adoption agency and I am recommending them with the highest enthusiasm.

When considering how to expand our family through adoption, we knew that within the adoption community Kirsh and Kirsh was well known and respected. We know several people who have utilized their services. They all spoke very highly of their services. Now that my husband and I are on the other side of our adoption journey, we are so thankful we listened to our friends and retained their services. The level of expertise and personal care for both expectant and adoptive families is absolutely wonderful. We could rest assured that Steve and the rest of the staff would take care of everything for our birth family and us. They provided us with very sound advice throughout the entire experience, helping us with our letter to answering any questions we had about what to expect during the process. Most importantly, they took very excellent care of all of the details for our birth family, supporting them and answering questions they had. My husband and I witnessed Steve help them navigate through some legal questions/concerns they even had outside of the adoption process. From the beginning of my pregnancy, I knew I wanted to choose adoption. I knew from the depths of my heart it was the best option for Max. As difficult as it was to have to make that kind of life changing decision, he would never have the father figure he deserved. With adoption, he would be able to have the solid ground in which he deserved. When you decide to go with adoption it can be intimidating. Luckily, I had a family chosen by the time I was 3 and a half months pregnant. Since they did not live in Indiana, they had to choose a lawyer inside Indiana to work with the outside state. The adoptive family chose Kirsh & Kirsh. Although Kirsh and Kirsh did not represent me, Steve Kirsh made me feel like it was as though he truly cared about my side, my story, most importantly; my growing baby. I would highly recommend them. They will make you feel at ease, at home, secure, and they give you the confidence that you can rely on them. Throughout the whole experience, Steve Kirsh was always willing to go the extra mile to make sure everything was as easy and smooth sailing as possible. He met me at Starbucks not even a mile away from my home. From my experience with Kirsh & Kirsh, you cannot go wrong by choosing them.

We were blessed with two beautiful daughters and Kirsh and Kirsh facilitated both of their adoptions! We worked with both Steven and Joel. They were professional and were empathetic to our needs as well as our birthmothers needs. Our oldest daughter just recently blessed us with a newborn grandson! As we waited in the labor roomm observing all the monitors.... My husband shared with the nurse how both our daughters were adopted .. And then John our son-in -law turned to the nurse and shared that he was adopted. Much to our surprise our nurse replied that she too was adopted! My husband and I realized at that moment.. If not for adoption... We would be the only ones standing in the room!! As you can see adoption has totally changed our lives and the staff at Kirsh and Kirsh can help you begin your family too!
