I’ve had a USAA auto insurance policy since I was 16, but I had never heard or was offered uninsured motorist coverage. Last year, I read Jim’s book, “Uninsured Motorist Insurance – Don’t Leave Home Without It!” and quickly purchased the coverage because I read how UM protects me if I am involved in an accident with an uninsured or hit-and-run driver. Well, on April 23, 2014, it happened. I was making my normal drive home from work, when a driver ran a stop sign and t-boned me. I was knocked unconscious from the impact of the crash and upon coming to, I realized my arm hurt badly and the car (I had just paid off the week before) was totaled. As I was talking to the paramedics, the driver, who hit me, left the accident scene, never to be found again. If I had not read Jim’s book and purchased UM, I would have had to pay for thousands of dollars in emergency medical bills out of pocket even though the accident was not my fault. Now, I tell everyone I can to get Jim’s book and be sure they have UM coverage on their policy. If it happened to me, it could happen to you. By the way, I have a lot of opportunity to tell people about UM coverage because I am the Client Relations & Community Outreach Director at Jim Dodson Law! I am so blessed to work for Jim, and I’m thankful his book educated an everyday person like me on the importance of UM coverage!
