I go here for a BFA in Graphic Design. It is still my first year, though I have already developed my opinion. With most colleges you get out what you put in. This is extremely relevant here. I have noticed that during the first year your peers are less than enthusiastic. They seem to be in the highschool mindset of; I will pass with a C and sit in the back and not read directions. The school does have a high drop out rate because students becoming overwhelmed by both courses and finances. I feel like a lot of people go here and expect that they can learn everything from scratch. While, yes, you can, you will be overwhelmed and had better expect to put a full time amount of effort into your course work and studies. Also, the faculty have both extremely good people, and on the other hand extremely... not good. The finance department puts less effort into individuals as they should. I sat waiting for an appointment with them for two hours until I finally walked in and asked what the wait was about and she says "Oh, your papers are right here, I have not gone through them yet". Once they have you sign the agreement saying you will pay for the school you immediately become less of a priority. It is definitely a for-profit school. The registrar is less than polite. And some professors do not understand that in intro classes you need to teach techniques and terms rather than just handing out assignments. But there are those amazing professors who offer help to anyone who asks and will go out of their way to make sure you are understanding the material. All in all, depending who you are and how much work you are willing to put in, I say it is a good school.

I graduated from AIW with and Associates in Culinary Arts. The Chefs that train the students at AIW are very helpful and some of them care about the future of their students. I made friends for life their. However, The Art Institute as a whole is a private for-profit college which means they care more about money then the typical college. As a current member of the United States Navy, they were more than willing to accept me knowing I had the GIBill to pay for college. Even after graduation the career services from AIW call me monthly to ensure they know my work situation so their statistics are correct. The career services have NEVER assisted me in actually finding a job, I found one myself. If you are a new potential student, when you initially sit down with the representative trying to sell the school to you he or she will tell you of the students that graduate from AIW 95-99% of them leave with a job. They will also word it so it sounds as if they were the ones to place those students when most of them probably were already employed or signed a waiver to be excluded from their statistical numbers. My advice, if your passion is to be a chef I would suggest you find a more notable culinary school such as CIA or even just start working your way up in the industry. AIW is a lot of money and time to waste for a company who cares more about money then your career. This is also just my experience, if you are unsure try a quarter there yourself, you may feel differently.

Its a for profit college, meaning that if you applied here for an exucation, your going to get ripped off. The students here are good people, but that doesnt negate how this "college" cares moe about making money rather than educating. Ignoring the Drumpf supporters in the comments here, seeing the other negative reviews will give you a better explanation on how this place is like.

Scam! Military Veterans do not waste your time they couldn’t care less about you. They only care about getting paid. Refused to transfer proficiency credits from another Art Institute to here, even though they transferred fine between 2 other Art Institutes the last time my husband and I moved.
