I first met Karin through Sailing Club of Washington and shortly after met her then fiancée now husband Bryan. Karin had some sailing experience through her family and was interested in crewing while Bryan was all new to the sport. Karin and Bryan have crewed for me since then on a weekly base and every major regatta in the area. A few years back they also acquired their own sailing vessel. Over the years I have known Karin, there are several characters that stand out to me. First off, she is a incredibly loyal and trustworthy individual, she and Bryan stayed crewing with me all these years while there are other more competitive boats would like to poach the ‘good and well trained’ crews. Many crews also jump ship for one reason or the other. However, our shoestring budget team, which they are big part of, did garner more than a few hardware over the years to place on the fireplace’s mantel. She is a kind and generous person and over the years, rolled up her sleeves on so many occasions to help out and keep the boat in shape… and I want to emphasize about the shoestring budget part. Third, Karin is a great learner and listener; while sailing a boat that activity itself is a challenging art form, to be competitive in regatta is another whole new dimension and it takes a whole lot of knowledge and team work. When Karin is on board, I can have Karin put in a key and strategic position and I can count on her to execute. All the above make Karin and Bryan a tremendous part of the team. I also see the same trace of characters that Karin exhibited on the water that exhibited in her professional life. When I required a character reference, Karin kindly donated her time in a profession manner to help me out. Sailing, as in real life, requires plenty of knowledge, diligent planning, accurate navigation and the courage to do what it takes to be successful. Karin’s trustworthiness, generosity and skillfulness, make her an in disposable member professionally and on the water.

Karin was referred to me by a family member who used her firm’s services. My uncle gave me all of Karin’s information, and even before going into the consultation I knew that she was probably one of the best lawyers in Virginia. Karin was meticulous with my consultation; she wanted to know every detail of the case. She wanted to know how the interaction with law enforcement went, and every little part of the case. She completely dissected what happened that night. Other lawyers don’t really give you as much attention as Karin does. I knew she was good after reading her reviews, but after the initial consultation I knew she was great and there to advocate for me. I was facing DWI, refusal and reckless driving; I was extremely concerned about what could happen to my freedom. My main concern being, how something like this could ruin my life and my family’s life. Karin was excellent after I hired her as well. She immediately answered all my questions and gave me updates on my case constantly. When we went to court, I completely felt like Karin had my best interest in mind. Karin spoke to the prosecutor and arresting officer to get a solid feel of how things are going to go, and she was able to lay out all the options for me. Because of Karin I was able to keep my job, my house, and stay with my family. The result was much better than what I thought would happen. I was facing 3 criminal charges, and I only had to face 1 charge because of Karin. And that charge was … reduced greatly. I was facing up to 6-12 months in Jail, but thanks to Karin Porter I got to walk away and go home, so I can enjoy my free time with my family. I would definitely recommend Karin Porter for anyone who needs a criminal defense attorney in Virginia.

I looked around for a good attorney, and I came across Karin Porter. She was highly rated, and Karin really stood out as she was a former prosecutor. I spoke with Karin initially on the phone, and we set up a meeting in her office. She responded very fast to me, and I was not disappointed with my consultation. She was very straight forwarded and knowledgeable. She gave me lots of case study, and explained to me the different situations that could happen. She was very transparent about what could happen, best case, worst case scenarios. She laid it all out on the table for us to take a look at. I spoke to about 2-3 other attorneys as well, but Karin seemed the most professional and I didn’t feel like I was just in a big cue of potential clients. Karin did not rush me through our consultation, even though I hadn’t paid anything at that point. I hired Karin Immediately, and I definitely do not regret it. Karin did everything behind closed doors, and spoke with the commonwealth attorney about my case and got me an amazing result. I spent minimal time at the court, and probably no more than an hour. Karin took care of everything for me, and everything was dropped, and Karin told me I could expunge everything as well. Karin laid out the options for me, and we expunged it all. I initially looked for an attorney in Fairfax on the internet and I came across Karin Porter. I really liked Karin’s philosophy and how she approached my case. She obviously had a lot of experience with my type of case. Speaking with Karin was a completely different experience then speaking with another attorney. You could tell she was very genuine, and she had an approach to my case that I really liked. It felt like Karin really understood what I was going through.
