We live in Charleston, SC and often like to do a short getaway to Hilton Head. As a Life Time Platinum Marriott Awards Member who has stayed over thousands of nights at Marriott Hotels around the world during my business career, I have never felt compelled to take my valuable time to write a survey. My wife and I, as we have often done, have visited your property in Hilton Head and for the various reasons, we will never come back. I can also say even with my 20+ years allegiance to the Marriott Brand I’m certain that we will start looking for alternatives. Why are we at this point? First, upon check in we wanted to extend our stay and were told the hotel was overbooked and we would not be able to do so. So much for Platinum status, being always guaranteed a room. Secondly, on our first night we wanted a casual dinner in your lounge and received the worst service ever encountered at your facility. Our dinner order took over 45 minutes to arrive, the French onion soup, which we always enjoyed at the Marriott tasted like a salt lick. The rest of our dinner arrived cold and we were told it was because of a large amount of room service orders that evening. Given the amount of properties you own and operate, one would think you would have food service scheduling figured out at this point, especially during your peak season. That dinner, which was over $140 was the biggest waste of our money that we have ever spent with your company. I am not sure if there were management changes, but our experience was completely disappointing, unacceptable and will look elsewhere when we visit Hilton Head.

Planned a three day visit coinciding with an on site conference. Only ended up staying two days due to the frustrations I encountered. First, I needed to use the Business center to print out a personal document. After learning that was a $10 minimum charge to use the equipment, I drove down to the closest Hilton and they let me use their computer for free. Second, although the site offers free Wi-Fi which I very much enjoy, the same isn’t true in the conference center which charges for a connection. I use my hotspot instead. Finally, I woke up this morning with incredibly low water pressure and no hot water to speak up whatsoever. After sponge bathing in the sink, I put on my suit and went to my conference. Certainly not the best way to start off a day. The site itself is gorgeous, and I’d love to visit any given day. But the fee structure does not seem to make doing business here terribly accommodating, and the lack of water is simply inexcusable. Plenty of people seem to be having a great time at the pool, and out of the beach… And it really is well-suited for that. But from an infrastructure standpoint, too many disappointments.

I have been coming every year for the past few years and it continues to get worse! This place is nothing more than a dump! The lap pool is full of algae. The room is filthy...glasses still dirty, coffee maker still had coffee in it, the desk chair had crumbs with greasy finger prints on it. When I wiped it down with my cloth it turned brown. Shower wreaks and the water here smells rotton , mattress is beat up and has no support, all the fixtures are filled with lime and rust. Went to go use the GUEST washer and dryer only to find EMPLOYEES using them, so WE as GUESTS were unable to do our laundry! So with all that said we stayed the one night and are moving to the hotel next door! This place needs to be bulldozed! And you call this a 4 star hotel???!!!! I would have rather stayed in a motel 6!l

Easy parking or valet. We had to wait a few hours for our room to be ready. Had a Jr. Suite that was two rooms with a bath and a half. Room was clean and nice with two full balconies, but not much of a view. The beach access is wonderful! Pool bar is easy to navigate to and friendly staff. Pool bathroom is only two stalls and seems limited when all the families are at the pool. Overall I enjoyed our short stay here. After reading other comments I worried that the price was a reflection of the property. We are platimun elite with Marriott and always are taken care of so I am glad we stayed and will bring our small kids back on our next trip. The comments could be true for others, but our stay was great. I would recommend it from our recent experience.

I am a platinum Marriott member and travel about 120 nights a year. View spectacular,,,,,,, we had a fantastic upper floor room right on the ocean, Size of the room was nice, Bathroom a bit tight , and the balcony was large. Room not as clean as it should have been, and the deck was not either. Paint peeling off the doors, curtains a bit tattered. I gave this hotel a 3 star because of the pool condition. The resort charges a fee daily, ( I think 20 bucks ) . For this fee I expect a spotless pool , clean towels, and not to be charges for pool side chairs. Shame on the management for not taking this place to its make. I know its a cash cow but please do not treat your guests like a herd.

Rooms are spacious and we had a great view. Some of the maintenance was lacking, such as a broken hook on the bathroom door, rusty hinges, a problem cabinet door and a few other details. Ocean view was worth the extra money: we even saw dolphins from our balcony. The laundry facilities need updated as it took two complete dryer cycles to dry a medium load of laundry, which costs $4, tied us up for hours, and was still damp. WiFi was difficult to connect to and we repeatedly had to call tech support. The hotel itself is beautiful and self- parking is close and convenient: nice robes and friendly staff.

All of the workers we encountered were wonderful! They were definitely the best part of the hotel. And the location was very convenient. The room was nice enough, however the connecting doors made it easy to hear conversations in the rooms next door. We mostly chose this hotel for the balcony on the beach. However between the leaf blower in the morning and the music from the bar in the evening, we found it hard to enjoy the sound of the waves. As we were out enjoying the island during the day, we felt like we did not get to enjoy the balcony like we had hoped.

Great resort setting. We stayed two nights for a wedding and enjoyed our stay. Nice clean, large rooms and we enjoyed the ocean view. The grounds are very family friendly and we love that keep the pools open late. Indoor, outdoor and multiple hot tubs were awesome. The beach is decent, and staff was friendly. The hotel bar was very good. Our bartender knew how to make good cocktails. Would stay again and our 2 year old had a blast. A bit on the pricier side, but free parking and thought out extra games and activities added value.

Wanted a beach view for a one night stay but was very disappointed that i was only able to stay one night. There is alot to do here.. bike rides, tennis lessons, walks on the beach and night time crab hunting!, poolside, lots of games and events scheduled by the hotel, restaurant and starbucks inside the hotel.. etc. The staff was very accomidating and helpful with and problems you have. Great choice if not the best.. if your in hilton head on vacation this is an awesome choice dont pass it up.

All employees were cheery, helpful, and hard-working. The hotel is right on the beach(sand), yet rooms and hallways were immaculate. There is a restaurant and bar on-site with fair prices considering it is a resort. Nearby(walkable) there is a general store and a small restaurant. Both came in handy/ was enjoyable during our stay. Fresh beach towels are available each day and loungers are available to rent. We plan on staying longer next year.

Thank you for your email and the opportunity to share my thoughts regarding my recent visit to your Hotel. I start by saying that I am a platinum level Marriott member and stay pretty much Marriott exclusively when my wife and I travel. My experience at other category 7 facilities have been very different than my recent experience at your Hotel. I found my stay disappointing and I was surprised by the decline in the property and its care.

Good for people who want comfort but want to stay on a budget. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and access to the beach is simple and convenient. A large outdoor pool, a smaller indoor pool, a poolside bar, a game room, a spa, and a workout facility provide q little something for everyone. However, the hotel restaurants leave much to be desired. Consider eating meals off resort at one of the many quality restaurants on the island.

Towneplace on the beach As a Marriott Platinum member I frankly expected more. Although the location is undoubtedly excellent, the regular room quality was terrible (not MVW/MVCI standard) and the prices are very high for everything (e.g., $14 for omelete without toast). The cot was just springs, the replacement cot was almost as bad but cost a tip. You will find yourself avoiding the property (at the beach or eating out).

We had a higher floor, ocean side room, which had a great view. The resort had various appealing amenities (multiple pools, on site restaurants, concierge, multiple bars, convention center meeting rooms, etc.) however, since our stay was short, we did not utilize them. The easy access to the beach and proximity to local eateries and attractions were the main factors in our choice, and the hotel did not disappoint.

I purchased a room on Priceline during the slow season, then when I requested to upgrade I was told that since I purchased on Priceline that they would not offer me any options to upgrade, even if I paid an upgrade fee. Additionally, I have found that the hotel staff and food do not even compare with the food and staff of other similarly priced hotels at HHI such as the Westin. I used to like this Mariott a lot...

The pool and beach were wonderful. Rooms were ok. I had it booked for 2 nights and called because I did not receive a confirmation. I had to call 3 times and was then told no rooms were available for 2 nights only one. I wrote corporate and then got a call saying they could find me a room. I had already made other arrangements. Customer service was not good and I would not book this resort again.

No stars....Arrived the room was very warm. Had to run the a.c. on 60 the lowest temp and still not comfortable the entire stay. My shower liner had black mold, the toliet ran constantly. The resort only had two working elevators. This Marriott is a dump!! Management offered to change us to another room...said No!! Just ready to leave Sunday!! No, we will never stay @ this resort ever!!!

Nice location, nice from the outside, and very nice staff. The hotel as a whole though looks like it needs a bit of updating here and there. Super soft beds. Great ocean view though, really enjoyed that as well as the access to the beach. The best part was the pool area, had me wish I was visiting in summer instead of November. Cool drive in to the hotel as well, very pretty area.

This was the best experience I have ever had. The staff was very courteous . Marriott is a beautiful upscale place to visit. Super clean , just a step away to the beach. I will definitely be revisiting and will recommend this place to everyone . We were very pleased. I would strongly recommend an ocean-view balcony for a overwhelming experience.

Gorgeous location - right on the beach! My wife and I stayed at the Hilton Head Marriott for a week in mid-October 2016, just as the area was recovering from massive hurricane damage. The Marriott was in good shape and management ensured operations and services were as close to normal as possible. We loved it and plan to go back.

The staff is great. They are very helpful and full of information about activities and local shops. The rooms are standard beach fare, nothing amazing but clean and decent. The rooms are also not very soundproof. Neighbors could be heard clearly through the ajoining doors. The grounds are nice and there are great family activities.
