The Trane heat pump system that we inherited from the last homeowner died completely after 17 years of constant running. I spoke or met with all the companies that carry Trane or American Standard brand units. Lots of creeps and "let me talk about technical things that will fly over your head so I seem professional" types out there-believe me. I was set on the idea of just replacing a part in the unit and keeping it going for a couple more years but Steve at First Call gamely convinced me of the value and cost savings I would be gaining by installing a gas line (we were all electric) and replacing the heat pump that runs 24/7 with an Ac unit and furnace. I also decided to pay a little extra for an air filtration system that I am pleased to have with the dog hair, allergens, fires, etc. The installation process was great. I really have to hand it to Joe G. Victor M. for being efficient, professional, courteous, knowledge and - friendly. These guys went the extra mile to make sure we knew what they were doing when, how long things might take, what it was exactly they were installing, and that everything was clean and tidy when they left. I do not like letting strangers in my house, it bothers me that I have to open my doors contractors whom I know little about. With these guys I felt that they knew what job they were there to do, did it as quickly as possible (while it was 90 degrees btw), and were genuinely nice guys all the while. In addition, a couple hatchways had to be cut into a closet wall to accommodate my new unit and the guys were good enough to get some white metal coverings and install them which makes it look great- and Joe G helped us properly connect the thermostat to our phones so we can change the temp remotely. While we were having the work done we scheduled a duct cleaning for after the install. The AC/Furnace system was installed on a Friday and Harold and Chris were here Tues morning to clean the ducts. The guys were very professional and as genuinely nice and cordial as the first group of guys. They did it less than half a day- including 2 18 ft high returns. Great job guys, looking forward to working with you for years to come (got a great coverage plan to boot!)

First Call Heating and Cooling was really easy to work with. We replaced our furnace, AC unit, and hot water heater. Matt came and did a consultation. He showed me all of the different options and was not pushy. We scheduled for it to be done and within a week from the consultation with Matt we had a new furnace, AC unit and hot water heater. On the morning of the first day, Matt came with the installers to go over everything with them. Joe and Victor arrived on time and worked VERY hard for 2 days installing our new system. They were working in a finished basement, having to work around walls. I was very impressed with their professionalism and how focused and knowledgeable they were. I am amazed at what they did and how well it turned out. Along with Joe and Victor, throughout the 2 days an electrician came, plumber, and another First Call employee to work on the gas- quite the operation. We got a high efficiency furnace and putting the ventilation horizontal is no easy task, but they did it with ease (or at least made it look easy). Joe and Victor cleaned up when they were all finished and even had me check before they left to make sure it looked okay. Joe went over the new thermostat and explained everything before leaving as well. Matt also came to check in the second afternoon, which I thought was very professional and I appreacited his follow up. We are very happy that we went with First Call for our furnace, AC, and hot water heater. We had been using them for maintenance of our old system, and will continue to use them for our new one.

I had my ducts cleaned today and the experience was fantastic. Andre was punctual and explained the process thoroughly before he started and got right to work with great attention to detail. About two hours in Dustin joined him because he was in the area and with both of them working made short work of my duct cleaning project. Both workers were very easy to talk with and understood exactly what needed to be done. When the work was all finished they cleaned up everything and left no mess. They even showed me what came out of my ducts and it was pretty disgusting. A+++ Update 09/29/2016: Following the duct cleaning I had my +30 year old propane furnace replaced with a high efficiency system which included a new furnace, heat pump, whole house filter and smart thermostat. The installers Dustin and Merle were fantastic and I would highly recommend asking for them if you need to have an install done. Both installers were easy to talk with and were meticulous about what they were doing and explained everything in great detail. The even cleaned up and hauled away everything including my antique furnace. We have not had a furnace for the last 15 years and have heated with our gas fireplace and some electric heaters. This morning it was 46 degrees outside and 70 degrees inside I thought I was in the tropics :)

City of Portland came and inspected/approved our new Mitsubishi ductless mini-split yesterday, so we are ready for the heat! No more fans and window AC units for us. I have run the 3 room system up and down the heating/cooling temps and I am excited to know that our upstairs will be comfortable no matter what the season. The First Call team was outstanding. Steve was a very responsive and thorough Sales contact. Victoria and Jasell processed and scheduled our job with precision....no surprises! Robert led the field installation. From the moment he arrived on site, he was very communicative about what was to be done and when it would be done. This install had to fit into a tight window of a bigger remodeling project, and the install team of Robert, Jonathon, Jeff and Victor respected that and got their work done. They also executed their work with careful attention to housekeeping! I give the First Call team an "A" on this project!

Hmmm...where to start..where to start..Well they were a tad bit higher than the other 5 contractors we got bids from but..maybe it was because the Salesperson Steve Erickson listened to what we wanted and was the only contractor that said it could actually be designed that way? And then the installers Abel and Aaron showed up every day at 7:30 am sharp and worked until 4? The Salesperson actually showed up at the start of the job to make sure the installers understood how he designed the system and bid it. Then the installers cleaned and organized the job site after work every night, took the time to understand our concerns on the furnace and duct location, customized the system to fit exactly where we needed it to be and finished a half a day early? That might be it but..the job is done, it works perfectly and we have had great service. Well worth the tad bit more.

Excellent company. I had 3 different companies come out for estimates. While they werent the most expensive, they werent the cheapest either. But like they say.....you get what you pay for. Not only was Jason able to get me on the books for installation 3 weeks earlier than the competition, but the crew was also very fast and efficient. They also took care not to get dirt and debris on my new carpets and flooring. Joe G. and Victor M. were very polite and respectful. Once everything was in and running, Joe G. took the time to show me how to use my new thermostat for my air conditioner and the remote on the ductless system. The office staff was also very nice and quick to call me with updates. I highly recommend this company. Good, honest, hardworking people!

After our not so old furnace broke down, First Call -- whom we had not used before -- was the company who responded to our request for a bid on a new furnace with a sense of priority, and had a sales representative to our door the next day (while the company we had used previously, on the other hand, could do no better than promise to send someone at the very end of the fifth day out!). We decided to purchase a new Trane from First Call and, less than one week late, Joe and Victor arrived to install it. They worked tirelessly, carefully, and professionally all day and I cannot overstate their pleasant and courteous nature. We are very pleased with First Call and the three representatives from their staff whom we have met.

Our oil tank failed after 42 years. Unfortunately, the tank insurance we purchased only covered us if we continued to use oil and updated to an above ground tank. We contacted First Call for guidance on decommissioning the tank and they were very helpful in selecting an alternate heating/cooling system. Steve at First Call helped us select a heat pump system as a replacement (no natural gas available here). Joe G, Victor, Nathon B, and Abel removed the old oil furnace and mini-split AC, modified the ducting and installed the new heat pump system in 2 1/2 days. Joe and Nate of First Call Heating and Cooling air conditioning department have spent the day installing my new central air system that I have wanted for just forever. They were both so very pleasant, knowledgeable, and hard working. I have done business with First Call for over 25 years. Dan Kim is the very best in furnace repair! Now I am good to go - I will stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I would be remiss if I did not mention Andre and Nick who cleaned my ducts yesterday. First Call you are great! They have great products and provided excellent service installing a furnace, A/C and programmable thermostat for me. Done on time and clean with everything put back they way it was! Hats off to the team of Steve, Joe, Charles and brave Miguel (put in the chimney liner and cap)!!! After putting in my furnace and A/C a couple of weeks ago, the ductwork cleaners Jaime and Harold came. They prepped well, cleaned the entire system, vacuumed, tested the system and showed me what they did. I was really pleased with the job they did and would certainly call on them in the future!

When our old A/C unit went out this year, Steve came over to look at the situation and recommend the best unit for our needs, answering our questions and providing a written estimate.
