If you want to pay $10pp to just walk around the visitors center and pay $10 to park- oh and its $30 for the tour which is first come first serve (cant pre-purchase) so you could be waiting a couple hours to go on the tour. And they have security like at the airport-take everything off and walk through metal detectors. The dam is neat and its history but not all places like this charge so much for so little.
Top 5 Best visitor centers almost exclusively because of their topographical, 3D, light up standing floor model showing Vegas, Boulder City, Henderson, Overton, Valley of Fire, AZ side of lake mead, moapa, etc. Shows submerged towns under water while another display showcases life size stuffed wildlife and plays their sounds they make
They had lots of good info. The new store manager was incredibly helpful. He even took our photo in front of Lake Mead. Please note this is the only place you can get a National Park Passport Stamp in the Hoover Dam/Lake Mead area.
Free parking, free wifi. Hoover dam only 4 miles away. I bicycled this distance, but I actually bicycled from the town. But if I knew this spot was free to park, I might have driven out to here.
Visitor center with sweeping views of Lake Mead and recreation area. Lovely interpretive center with displays, gift shop, xeriscape gardens with indigenous plants, and picnic areas.
I liked this wonderful place is worth a visit and offers excellent free services

Good place to stop to learn more about the lake and the dam. The restrooms are clean. The trail from the visitor centre to Boulder Beach on the banks of lake is about 3 miles.
Logan became a junior Ranger and was excited about his badge, the girls looked at the different displays, we all learned something new and enjoyed ourselves!
Great little visitor centre, has some really really interesting wildlife and maps inside....good views of Lake Mead and free WiFi and restrooms too!
Helpful guides can give you tips for how to spend your day at Lake Mead or the "nearby" Fossil Beds. Cool little exhibit on local wildlife as well.
There is a 20-minute movie about the area which is interesting. There are informative exhibits. Lots of fun things in the gift shop.
See ya autumn cactus, not to touch, or will die miserable!
People are nice there, we stopped because we were thirsty, they dont have drinks, but 2 miles down the road they do..
Helpful staff will give you inside scoop where to park for free and make the most of a short visit to Hoover Dam.
Great visitor center with lots of information. The gift shop has a wide selection of items at reasonable prices.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Limited hours due to cost cutting. A nice display and a good movie to watch.
Take the time to walk through their garden and view the collection of hundreds of desert plant specimens.
