Thank you Jerusha..! As a Disabled Vietnam Veteran working with the Veterans Administration can be overwhelming. We as Disabled Veterans just do not know how to deal with the bureaucracies of Government Agencies. On our own we go one direction and just the difference between one word on a VA Form can cause no action or rejection of a Compensation and Pension claim. So we have to turn to Veterans Agencies or Law Firms to help us with the proper direction. I was given a low Disability Rating 1996 and for over 17 years, not really knowing the value of using help to get the proper rating, I fought alone including trying an unsuccessful appeal to accomplish. After getting again what I felt as an improper Disability Rating I gave it a lot of thought and contacted a Law firm out of Indiana for help. After a few months I called for an update on where my action was going to submitted. Seems the Lawyer that was going to take my case left and they lost my file. I was done with them. So I did some research and found the most recommended firm was Barry Law Firm. I was paired up with Jerusha Hancock. I was so Lucky. I am not an easy client. I like to talk and I like to know what is happening with my case. Jerusha always took the time to keep me updated. After it seems to me that the VA was not moving on my case Jerusha recommend filing suit against the Local VA Office and The Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Within 10 days of filing I was called by the VA to set up a Compensation and Pension Exam, which by chance I did the very next day. Then 3 Weeks later my case way completed. I received everything I was deeming due. I am now rated at 100% IU and each and every joint is rated higher than before. Because of Jerusha Hancock I am receiving the proper compensation that affords me the opportunity to buy a new home making my level of living bearable even with my disabilities. She always found time to answer my emails or call when I did not understand what was happening. She is the reason I can survive day to day now. With her recommendations I still have an open Cases and Appeals. She is trying even harder to get me elevated to receiving even more compensation, what a fantastic Job. My journey to receive VA benefits began from the “back waters of Vietnam” as a young senior airman assigned to a US Army Special Forces (MACV) unit (1st Air Commando Squadron) headquartered in NhaTrang South Vietnam. It was a "hidden war" and US military personnel who served in those early operations were also hidden within the military personnel files of the US DoD. I contacted Attorney John S. Berry and we began a working relationship. I sent him copies of letters asking for help that I sent to the VA local, regional, and national offices. The VA never responded or helped me. John Berry was the only person in my life who believed in my claims. John continued to work with me when most lawyers would have walked away. Three plus years ago, the USAF sent a letter acknowledging my combat service in Vietnam and awarded the Expeditionary Forces Medal. After 40 years, the DD-214 was finally updated. This journey would take over 12 years and would have never ended without the Berry Law Firm. John Stevens Berry fought for me. He and his staff (Margie Bailey, etc) never gave up seeking justice for me. I know that his Berry Law Firm which was established in 1963 in Lincoln Nebraska will do the same for any of his clients. I believe that John S. Berry is a very strong supporter of all Military Veterans. The entire firm is dedicated to solving all the legal issues that veterans face when they return to their civilian lives and seek benefits that were guaranteed to them for their service. I am now receiving all of my claim benefits.

I tend to over-react. My counselor at the VA recommended I let a lawyer handle my PTSD claim, as I needed to leave it alone. Berry Law had all positive reviews on the Internet, so I contacted them. Margie Bailey reviewed my situation for several hours, and identified several other disabilities I might want to claim. I turned the problem over to her, and things slowly began to happen. My PTSD claim was approved quickly, but some of the others are still bouncing around in the VA. I am confident that the team at Berry is on top of them. Sometimes, I get confused or angry with the process, but I always get a quick response and then I let it go again. When my son came back from Irag with a couple of physical problems, I recommended he contact both the VA and Berry Law and start getting the care he deserved. I wish I had done that when I was thirty rather than staying stuck in rage and denial.

In 2004 I tried to get benefits from the VA related to my injury in Viet Nam. I tried unsuccessfully through the Texas Veterans Commission and the VBA. I was denied and through several Compensations appointments I was still unsuccessful. After four years of trying a friend told me to call Berry Law Firm and they would help me. The Berry Law Firm has represented me for several years. After having very little success in dealing directly with the VA for PTSD and some other disabilities I turned to them for assistance. I was under going a court martial for 4 offenses all which could have been 12 months in confinement each. My command wanted me to get bad conduct discharge and boy, am I glad I had Mr. Berry. The result ended with a few forfeitures of pay and 4 months confinement, no discharge. Due to certain military laws my command could still pursue an admin separation which ended in general under honorable conditions. A long way from a BCD. I spoke with others who were charged for the same things I was and I am the only USAF member who did not get a bad conduct discharge and I have John Berry and Berry Law Firm to thank.

In 2014 I was up to my neck in denial letters form the VA I found one rep who was not licensed. The second vet rep told me I had no claim. I knew they where wrong and I found Berry Law Firm they did not turn me away as a matter of fact they put in for more claims that they found in my claims file. 6 mos. after I signed on with them I got SMC award .To day I was just awarded 100% P&T I had my doughs but they came through!!
