It took me until 10/4/2017 from storm damages on 9/11/2017.On 10/04/2017 I finally reached someone to file my claim on 10/20/2017 I received a letter DATED 10/04/2017 THANKING ME FOR TRUSTIN AVATAR TO PROTECT MY ASSETS,PLEASE CONTACT US IF I HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, WE ARE LIVING WITH EXTENSIVE MOLD OUR AMERICAN HOME SHIELD WARRANTY REFUSES TO FIX OR COVER OUR WASING MACHINE IN LAUNDRY ROOM BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT HAVE THEIR WIRKMEN WORK IN MOLD. WE HAVE HAD NO HOT WATER SINCE THE STORM AHS ALSO TOLD US THE MUFACTURER TOLD US BECAUSE THE RED LIGHT IS ON IT HAS BEEN BLOWN BY A SURGE PROBABLY CAUSED BY POWER OUTAGE, OUR POWER DID GO ON AND OFF DURING THE STORM 6+ TIMES. SO FAR I HAVE CALLED AVATAR 36 TIMES BEEN ON HOLD 39,29,59,68,34,minutes before having to give up that is just the times I wrote down. When you call it does not tell you they close at five so when I called at 4pm and stayed on hold til 5:20pm nobody comes on to tell you you are still on hold for a place that is closed!! I have yet to hear from an adjuster or the company as to what the next steps are. Their customer service and phone access is none existent!!!My husband has Congestive Heart Failure,pulmonary hypertensive disease,diabetes,I have a heart condition with 6 stents from a heart attack previously,& just had TIA and was hospitalized 10/6/2017-10/9/2017 stress could have been a factor as well as migraines that can also be headaches caused by mold.This company is putting our health in jeopardy as well as our animals.7

Horrible company to deal with, if you have them as your insurance change them fast, if you have an active claim I suggest to already start seeking legal council and keep track of EVERY conversation you have with them. The adjuster we had was an imbecile, said he was a general contractor and wanted to argue over damage instead of just reporting it. To get a hold of the office is a mission either the “phone lines are too busy” or they put you on hold you wait a while and then they hang up. If you do so happen to get a person to talk to they don’t know what’s going on and just “forward to the manager the information”. They were suppose to send out a roofing company to asses damage and somehow the roofing company had already come out without our knowledge and before the adjuster had even done his assessment :/ I mean how could they show up 3 weeks before they even knew there was roof damage?. Not to mention the mold issue, there is a high probability that there is mold damage in my property because I have water stains in my ceiling and I had no electricity for 2 weeks I’m in south Florida, wetness + humidity and no ac = mold but they didn’t seem to think it was necessary to even go to he attic and check. So please please do not choose these people for your own good.

My experience with Avatar was not good. A clause in my policy (which I was not aware of) is a "right to repair". This means that the adjuster uses contracted companies to do the work and I would have no say about who would complete the work. So, I asked for an estimate of the damage that would be incurred if plumbers cut into the concrete slab so that I may know if it would be more or less than my deductible. Then, the adjuster asked if I was able to pay the deductible. An adjuster should not ask a customer if they can pay the deductible and should be required to give estimate before calling people in to start working in a home as he was attempting to do. When the adjuster tried to make these arrangements without any estimates, I contacted the field supervisor that said estimates would be given prior to work beginning. However, because I did not trust the integrity of the adjuster and I was being given quite a run-around, along with being without water for 4 days, I paid a plumbing company directly to remedy the problem in the way I felt was best in the long run. I shudder to think of what may happen if I have to file a claim with this company after Hurricane Irma.

Worst company ever. I called them the day after Irma. Had to call them back a week later since I never heard from an adjuster and was told the adjuster would get back to me with a claim #. Nothing from any adjuster so called again the following week I was given the same promise but this time got a claim #. I had a contractor show up at my door claiming to work for Avatar - that was 3 weeks ago. Today a contractor called and I turned him off since I already paid the repairs out of my personal funds since Avatar adjuster never got back to me. I few minutes ago another contractor just stopped by said he worked for Avatar and wanted to look at my roof damage (I never had any damage to my roof). Still no calls from either Avatar or there so called adjuster. I am not sure what the insurance premiums are for but not not for customer service or claims. I will be changing companies as soon as possible. DO NOT USE THEM!

This company is the worst!!!! It took two weeks to get in touch with anyone from Avatar. The phone was either busy or disconnected. They took a month to send out an adjuster after Hurricane Irma. The adjuster proceeds to tell me everything that was not covered and downplayed everything that was. He said that they were going to send someone out to make sure that the leaking was not from rising floods since I did not have to carry flood insurance. He told me that my deductible was $5300 so it may not be worth it to have the insurance cover the damage. It has been almost 2 months since I filed a claim and the only correspondence that I have received is a letter stating that I am required to use their contractors if they have to pay for damages. This is the worst company that I could ever imagine dealing with after a disaster. I will be canceling my policy ASAP!!!

Have been calling Avatar no call backs sent roofers to work on roof with out notice still have not had any calls have not been giving any information on my claim at all called to leave messages mail box is full They have not sent anyone to talk to us about tree or car gate or any thing else shame people with out insurance is getting help faster and with more respected than people who pay for insurance I have even sent sms messages and e-mails don,t have number to talk to supervisor if or when they come around to help I will rewrite review as of now NOT HAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY

Horrible company to work with.. Ive been without a shower or toilet for about 30 + days due to a mold build up in my home. I have to call to see the status of the claim and to get someone to actually work on my home..and yet to speak to someone in person about my case..someone after hours disrespected me very bad. Bte from the time that the began my nieces under the ages of 5 and my grandmother n great grandmother and i have been having take a shower outside afterdark with the garden hose and throughout the day utilize a comode to pee or poo.

I would give them a huge zero if that was an option. Had hurricane damage to our home from Irma. Claim filed October 12 still have not heard a word. No adjuster, No Call, Absolutely Nothing. I sat on hold for over two hours just too file the claim. It would be nice if we could get a call saying we werent forgotten. Very Sad that we pay so much too have Insurance, and they dont as a company have the common courtesy to let people know that they arent forgotten. I def will be looking elsewhere after this.

somehow all the numbers to reach the agent assigned to you (after a disaster) no answer or no service .....noone willing to address your claim in a timely manner. still waiting to hear back on a claim submitted 3 weeks ago and noone has contact us to come inspect or anything, so damage property still being affected and they say dont fix items/property or you might not be reimbursed.

This is the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. I’ve sent 10 emails to the adjuster and to customer service and no one has the decency to call me back in regards to a claim I submitted in August, it’s now November and they don’t answer my calls nor emails. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone, not even my worst enemy!!

I would write an entire review describing my experience with this company (that bought out my existing company). It is not worth it. I will just say.. God help you if ever have to file a claim with them. They are less than helpful and border on incompetent.

After hurricane Irma I reported that my roof got damaged and they sent Contractor to look at it then they sent an adjuster and still they haven’t responded and their phones don’t answer. I think They went bankrupt due to hurricane Irma.

Terrible!! Sent an arborist to my house without notice to cut down a fallen limb that crashed into my porch. They have not addressed my roof and porch damage though. Does anyone answer the phone there? Does the phone even work?

Terrible to work with! They purchased our old insurance company EPIC, raised our rates 30%, and when we asked for a refund, because we changed companies, they told us it would take up to 3 weeks to "process". They have no morals!
