BEWARE!! If you are looking for an attorney who will stand up for you and will not sell your interests to the opposing party, Mike Evans is NOT the one. He will make a deal with the opposing party to benefit himself at your expense without you even knowing it until it is too late to undo the harm caused. This is what happened to me. I selected him based on clients’ reviews, without knowing that he pays people to post good reviews (he had the audacity to ask me to do the same, AFTER he had already struck a deal with the HOA I was suing, and BEFORE I had found out about the deal between them). I had done my case Pro Se but he convinced me to hire him “as I did not have teeth” to deal with the justice system. Little did I know that he will use his teeth to bite ME, not the HOA. We agreed on a flat fee that was to cover everything, including if he had to litigate at the Supreme Court level. He spent more than a month trying to settle against my wish, and even asked their female attorney out to lunch, with my money, and without my consent. He later pressured me into signing an offer. Luckily, the HOA did not agree, and the court ruled in my favor based on a Motion I had filed BEFORE retaining him. As the opposing party filed a Motion to Reconsider, Evans sent me an email asking for more money. He would not honor the flat fee agreement. In addition, he almost caused me to lose money I had in an escrow not only by failing to communicate my wish to have the escrow extended, but even worse – by misrepresenting my intentions by fraudulently stating I did not want an extension. As I had no idea whether he was still representing me (he will not communicate with me for weeks), I contacted the escrow agent directly to request an extension. Finally, he filed a Motion against the HOA, as we had agreed. He again had no communication with me for a few weeks, until (I realized later) it was too late for me to undo the harm to my case he had knowingly done. Exactly two weeks after he had damaged my case (two weeks is the period you can contest things in court), he had the audacity to ask me to post a positive review on him for a $25 payment. Of course, I composed a good one, because I still had thousands of dollars in his hands I was hoping to recover (I still had no idea what he had done, nor could I even imagine that the attorney I had paid to represent me could sell my interests). I sent him an email asking him directly if my Motion had been ruled on but he ignored my question. A couple of days later, I went to the court and found out he had withdrawn the motion, without my knowledge or consent, the day before it was to go to the judge. His Withdrawal fraudulently states to the court that all parties had resolved all issues, when he knew very well I had no knowledge of his intentions. If an attorney is comfortable defrauding the court, he will definitely have no qualms about defrauding you. I sent him an email asking why he sold my interests and struck a deal with the HOA, but he never gave an answer except that he hoped I had learned my lesson not to do things Pro Se (I did not pay him thousands of my hard-earned money to be taught a lesson). He refused to return my attorney fees, refused to explain what deal he had made with the HOA, and refused to give me my file. He is currently being investigated by the Attorney Regulations for his unethical practices. Do yourself a favor and run as fast as you can when your search for justice takes you to his website.
