I use to love coming to Avalon School of Cosmetology. The prices were good for what I was paying for until today. Today, I went in to get an entensive blow dry and deep conditioner by Esmeralda. She was completely unprofessional. She told me she was young and it showed. She was very messy talking about my hair to another student making me feel less than about my hair. She made me feel ugly, but what was worse was she had no clue what she was doing. From the beginning it was obvious that she was inexperienced. Her commentary was very rude and not called for. I left feeling irritated and embarrassed. Their unprofessional students and inexperienced professors is not worth the cheap prices that you receive. I rather pay 60-75 dollars to receive great service from an experienced professional than to deal with the immature students at the beauty college. It sucks that this one experience erased all the positives that I had for the college, but blame Esmeralda. Mark my words from this day forward I WILL NOT GO BACK TO AVALON SCHOOL OF COSMETOLOGY.

This place is a big joke! I’m a graduate from the esthetician program in July but trust me with all their BS it’s not worth the debt. They play around with your financial aid, i had seen the financial aid person at least 4 times so they could get their numbers right on their end. Mind you they had a promotion with signups that you get a free MAC makeup class once you graduate & all the people who signed up in that time span are now graduated for months now. I had to contact the director of the school on multiple occasions just so she can follow through with the contracted class and she finally did for the month of November. Naomi, the director will say she contacted you but she has the wrong number on file ALL THE TIME! I have voicemails from when I attended school from the schools front desk asking where I am so how is it that she can’t reach me now? Bottom line is DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME! Save the headaches and go to a quality school.

As a high school teacher who works with teachers in training from CSUEB, I wanted to support the local Cosmetology students here in Alameda, and I am so glad I did!! I went in to the Avalaon School of Cosmetology in November of 2013 with three different shades of brown in my hair, my natural medium brown roots and two really bad shades of boxed brown dye. Eleana dyed my hair with Wella products, and it turned out smooth, conditioned, and absolutely gorgeous!!! I left there a new woman. Eleana took her time and did a fantastic job transitioning my hair back to "normal" for my birthday. $35 to be beautiful for my birthday was definitely worth it. I continue to see her for my roots as well because who can beat a $20 root touch up with Wella products? They even give you 20% off your next visit if you book the appointment before you leave. I highly recommend Avalaon School of Cosmetology in Alameda.

First of all the environment is amazing, especially after the remodeling. It warm, inviting, and the staff and students really make this place. Ms. Karen: Esthetics instructor is very knowledgeable and warm to all who she encounters. Ms. Eva: A Cosmo instructor who is willing to give anyone any information she can and make everyone feel invited. Ms. Ashley: A Cosmo instructor who makes herself a visible example to all the students, in the way she dresses and acts. Valarie: Is the queen of waxing. Emily, Kayla, Elizabeth V and Elizabeth S: Have gifted hands for facials. Morgan, Sharron, and Deb: Are the most phenomenal with body treatments. Anna: A brilliant Makeup artist in the making. All these women are more than gifted in any esthetics department, but these were my specific favorites from them all.

I am a current stage one cosmetology student at Avalon School of Cosmetology. After a rough start, I am not only satisfied with my choice to attend Avalon, but I am pleased with the changes that are being made at our school. Avalon is undergoing a building renovation, that will not only appeal to clients, but will also inspire and motivate students to learn and do their best work. I also really appreciate the instructors at Avalon. They are knowledgeable and very helpful. There has been some transition since I started in November of 2013, but I am confident that the changes will only create the best educational and administrative teams possible. Overall, as a prospective student, I would consider Avalon School of Cosmetology as a reputable contender in my selection of cosmetology schools.

Went here to get a wash, color and a flat iron. After I checked in I was greeted by Lanisha. She was very up beat and friendly. Her makeup and hair were very well put together, not to be rude but other then five other girls they were the only ones that looked like they were in beauty school. Everone else looked horrible. Hair wasnt done and no makeup, but Lanisha had her look on point so I was happy to get her. She did a really good job on my hair. loved my look. She also asked me what I liked and didnt like about my hair and what kind of look I was going for. Also helpful hints to keep up my look and to keep my hair nice and soft. I will for sure go back to her to hook me up again.

I had a mani/pedi today. Both students, Irene and Tracy were great and I am pleased with my mani/pedi. They both checked my feet and hands and asked my preference for shaping my nails. Next, I was asked to select my polish color and then we got started. It was a relaxing experience and I would definitely request either Irene or Tracy for future services. Emily did my facial today and it was an amazing experience. She checked with me each time she applied products to make sure that I was comfortable. This was especially important for me because I have super sensitive skin. This is my second time having Emily for a facial and I will continue to use her until she graduates.

the school does use professional product which is great for product knowledge. The school itself is over price and you do not offered the level of knowledge your money is paying for. you can go to q junior college and get more knowledge and better prepared for state board. it is difficult to attend another college once if you decide not to complete the program and have a balance. they do NOT work with you to release your transcript until all the balance is completely paid which postpones your educational goal. Do not go to a private college junior college is better. planet college offers cosmetology as a major. And you can later take those units and get an associate degree.

Starting from the beginning the receptionist that schedule my appointment was very knowledgeable about the services they offered and gave me great recommendations on facials I received a micro dermabration facial it was amazing my face is glowing the students was very professional she explained the steps before she started my facial. Ms. Karen wad amazing with her grest supervision. . The Student gave me great recommendations for home use offered me Dermalogica products they are amazing. The facial setting was very professional and I will let all my friends and family know to visit and receive a facial.

I visited the Avalon School and received several services, a complete facial, mustache trim, pedicure, and manicure. The service I received from Sandy was extremely professional. Sandy explained what was being done as the services were being performed. I am definitely satisfied with my results and the service. I will be returning in two weeks for a follow up manicure and pedicure. The products used are very nice and pleasant. I recommend any individual to visit The Avalon School of Cosmetology you will receive professional services from Sandy and the other students in training.

the students are great and so our the instructors. i have never had a bad experience. i absolutely love the service i get and will always recommend them. the students take the time to make sure they do a good job. I had made another appointment for a hair cut and Jeanette was super friendly and professional. she took the time to get my hair cut just right and also gave me an amazing head massage. I absolutely loved her. If she had a question she would ask the instructors that were on the floor which was great cause i rather have it done right.

I have been going to that school as a customer for couple years. I used their hair cut, color and facial services and I have no complain so far. The prices are very affordable since you get the services by students but they are all checked by the instructors. Waiting time is not long, but depending on the student, sometimes service time might be long. My experiences were for a hair cut and color between 1.45 mins to 3 hrs. Students are very polite and welcoming. Overall, I like this place and I would recommend it!

Through some pretty tough times the dedicated and motivational instructors and staff helped me accomplish a goal that I had set. Now I am the Stylist that I had been wanting to become. Not only was I impressed with the professionalism displayed by the students in the skin care clinic, I felt really cared for and listened to about my skins needs. I went in to get a haircut from Renae Campos. Renae is very professional and courteous. She asked questions before doing anything. She took her time and made sure I was comfortable with what she was doing. She was also very happy and made nice conversation. When she had finished my haircut she made sure I was satisfied. She pampered me with a scalp treament, deep condition, & a complimentary hand massage while I sat underneath the hooded dryer! I went in to get my hair washed and style. The student who helped me was a young lady by the name of Jessica Adejobi. She was new but did a good job. I took my niece to her hair washed and styled by jessica for my nieces birthday and Jeasica took very good care of her!! She did exactly why my niece wanted and everyone at her party loved her hair.
