The Bighorn National Forest is a wonderfully diverse region, with open hills and plateaus in the north and granite cliffs in the south. While the southern Cloud Peak region is designated wilderness, the remaining forest is well roaded and available for wheeled exploration. Wildlife is abundant and meadows are lush with beautiful wildflowers, especially in June and July. The forest is well used by locals who appreciate what it offers.

Elk, moose, deer, sandhill cranes all seen within a few hours of setting up camp. Roads are well maintained. Amazing geological features. So many adventures await! Pick up a Bighorn National Forest map at the Burgess Junction information center or in Sheridan WY ranger station for $10 so you can plan your exploration of this amazing place.

Beautiful scenic drive through the park. You can take 14 or 14 alt and they are both filled with amazing views and plenty of pull offs. Route 14 has a higher grade so keep that in mind for driving and towing. Not very crowded as well which makes it all the better for enjoying the beauty of nature.

What an incredible wilderness area. Awesome camping areas. And spectacular views all the way up. Saw some large moose. A bit less traveled than the CO Rockey Mtns. And far more beautiful than the Larime and Rawlins area (a bit of a pit there). Recommended. One of a kind area!

I drove through Bighorn National Forest from Dayton to Shell on US 14. The drive is amazing and there are many locations for hiking and camping. I definitely recommend stopping at the Sibley Lake picnic area, as well as the Shell Creek Rest Stop.

When you visit this area and you are not taken by the scenery then you missed it . Overwhelming cliffs, mountains and bluffs. I could not believe how beautiful the mountains were. When we travel west we will definitely travel through this area.

Went through the Big Horn at different locations on our way to/from South Dakota. The roads are in good shape, the views are awesome! Ample look out pull offs. Places for snow mobiles, camping, hiking, cycling, rock climbing... Lots to do!
