The City of New Bern NC. Shaking my head. I have been waiting 5 long years just to put my in my complaint. Only parts of Craven County are covered by the City of New Bern light company. Back in 2008 I lived in a two bedroom house. My rent was $400.00 and my light bill would be between $$479.00 and $580 a month. When I moved out I owed them $1,560 for three months. The City of New Bern is a rip off. If you are not retired Do NOT MOVE IN NEW BERN NC. The people that have lived her for over 15+ years would know better than anyone. How in Gods green earth can someone making $7.25 an hour pay a $500.00 light bill and pay rent as wel without struggling. On another note they charged everyone back 2014 maybe if you ever been late with light bill they charged $600.00 for a deposit now me tell me that is not a rip off. Customer Services sucks. Nasty people with atitudes or should I say people that can afford their light bills attitudes look down on those with high tale light bill. This company is crooked as they come. I would never move back to New Bern. However, I still live in Craven County. My Light COMPANY ROCKS. Duke Progess Energy. I live in a 5 bedroom tripple-wide and my light bill never has hi $500.00 in any year I have been with this company. Highest light bill with duke was $340.00. The City is a rip off. I make to much of good money to give it to some Crooked Light Company. And that One Star I have to give to make my post you do not deserve not one dag on star City of New Bern is Horrible.

The absolute worst experience setting up utilities. Their accuracy, intelligence and productivity could hardly be compared to that of a tee-ball team full of 5 year olds. Incorrect addresses, email, information, payment info and on and on and on. Hard to believe these people dress themselves and tie their own shoes. Qualifications for a position here must consist of head nods and eye rolling.

Online or telephone payments cost $5 for every $300 you pay. Inconsistent receiving a bill on multiple occasions I have not gotten a bill. Cannot pay by credit or debit card at their offices only check or cash. Often very rude although there are certainly good employees there. Also one of the most expensive utilities in North Carolina do you too poor municipal management by the city.

This is by far the absolute worse place in nc to live simply because of the utilities, either they are over priced, or have constant changes to their billing cause deposits upon deposits you will never see again. Do your self a favor and move to somewhere else.
