My wife has been a member for 20+ years; I’ve been a member for 15+ years. CU Denver in the past has always been a hit with us. We’ve had excellent service from their fraud protection department, and auto loan department in the recent past. However our recent experience with their Mortgage processing department was frankly pretty bad. We have plenty of equity, good credit, no late payments ect.. We were denied the HELOC, which is fine actually, it’s not like we are running around with an 820 credit score and 32% DTI, every lenders dream come true. The BAD part was the reasons for the denial were drastically inaccurate. First they said my DTI was 55% which it’s NOT, it’s actually 42%, and then they said I have maxed out credit cards which I also DO NOT have. My CC balances are less than 8% total across 4 CC’s. Then they said we have a history of missed payments which we DO NOT have, seeing as we have two auto loans though C.U. Denver without any missed payments they should know that. Then they said we are showing “A escalation of debt” whatever the hell that means seeing as we were looking to consolidate our “A escalation of debt” into a HELOC. Which by the way is, THE MAIN REASON PEOPLE GET A HELOC. If you’re looking for a good credit union for auto’s, credit cards, and signature loans they are not too bad and pretty solid. If you’re looking for mortgage services, HELOC’s, seconds, ect.. I’d look elsewhere, U.S. Bank approved our HELOC on the same day C.U. Denver denied it……..just FYI you might be better serviced.
I had a car loan with Credit Union of Denver up until 12/2015. When my new auto loan service provider paid off my loan with Credit Union of Denver, there was some money that I was owed from the balance. Credit Union of Denver decided that I need a savings account with them, so they put the money they owed me into a savings account. Did not ask me what I wanted to do, they just did it. Now, I do not have the account number because they did this without my knowledge. I called them today asking for my account number and they are telling me that I have to drive to Lakewood to get MY money out of their bank. I had no problems with them until this. This makes me very upset as it was not their decision to make. I will never do business with them again.
for me Credit union of Denver is a great bank for the simple reason i am not charge for not having money in either of my accounts. plus i travel a lot in state and no matter where i go i have assets to my money without paying any fees. plus i no longer live in Denver and i do fine with my banking and when i had a problem i email the staff and they called me on the phone to assist me. not only am i Credit union member so is my daughter and she too does not live in Denver. what i most like about CUD is that i can transfer money online and if i spend to much in my checking account the money in my saving will cover the cost. THAT IS WHAT BANKING SHOULD BE ABOUT THE PEOPLE NOT PROFIT OF A CEO AND THEIR SHAREHOLDERS. Thank you CUD.
The negative reviews are all true. I am far from a deadbeat and very astute when it comes to financial matters. Dated website. HORRIBLE "customer service". RUDE to the max employees. I honestly hate the place and only use them to have a local account as my real banking is done online. The only thing they have worthwhile is a low rate credit card which is nice if you need to use it. Since I never carry a balance it is pointless so even giving them credit for the card is stretching it.
Tim has been great in opening my account, and helping me out with some other things. When my mom passed away, he helped me with straighten out her pension from the UK, and let me use his phone! Not to mention on two occasions he has helped me with my will, and power of attorney that I had for my mom. This credit union has made some improvements, and operate much better now. I just moved to Golden, I wish they had a Credit Union of Denver here.
dont do business with this company. They could not change my address properly, let my exgf change contact info and access my account even though she was never on the account and then when I made a payment on a loan account they took a cc over the phone when I told them I could send a check, what they didnt say was they would cash advance the cc purchase and it would cost me 50 dollars extra.

Wells Fargo wanted me to refinance my car with them and so I tried multiple times and they told me no due to "lack of credit history." I went to credit union of denver and they told me that they could refinance my car. They got my payments down and saved me over $100. And making a payment online is so much better then wells Fargo. Thank you guys!!
They gave me the second chance I needed when no other establishment would. I am truly grateful for that. Always nice associates. When we over drew a couple of times, after speaking with a representative understood our situation and removed the fees. We love this credit union. We have moved across the country and we still use them.
I have a couple auto loans with them.. I received a notice that they had not received my insurance... I immediately sent it over... They added 1400 to my loan... This is for a good loyal customer... I been working with Gina in the insurance department.. No call back.. No resolution.. I will be refinancing my loans with bellco..
My experiance was horrific I tried to trade in my car for another car, they where conpletly rude. How they never do payoffs how they could get me a better rate and FAILED. I was told to call back in 10 mins when their computers where working properly, called back and they where closed! Hate this Bank!!! NEVER USE

I have to agree with the negative reviews. I opened a new account with this CU just over a month ago and I have had nothing but problems--even with tasks as simple as depositing money. Do yourself a favor and do your banking elsewhere. Not all credit unions are created equal.
My husband has been a member for 2 years, its been great for him and all the people who have helped during the way. I recently decided to be member of my own and want to say, it has been great as well! Everyone who we have spoken to has been wonderful. Thank you CUD!
I received a $5 charge per month for not updating my address. Thanks for taking 1 minute of your time to call me and let me know. Surprising how I still paid my car payment each month yet you had the wrong address. Junk charge, junk credit union.
Been a member since 2004 never ask for 1 loan. Ask for credit card transfer my credit 651 co signer 720 in prosses purchase house just try get intrest down so pay card off denied. Pull my money out closing account. Going usbank.
My car loan through them is impossible to pay! Have to call literally every month to make a payment and it is like pulling teeth getting to speak to a human to make my payment!! Avoid at all costs if you value your time!
I literally watched my ex-girlfriend 15+ years ago forge her mothers signature and get a check cashed... yeah... wild. But my mother worked here for a bit before I was born. So I mixed feelings about the place.

Good rate on my loan, but cannot make a payment on line. Have to remember to call them monthly or go into their location. Spend some money on your technology & get into the 21st century, please.
Their hours on the internet show they are open until 1pm on Saturdays but when you get there they are only open until 12:30. 6 people are outside with the same issue. Bad business...
Better than most banks at working with us...pretty good customer service too! Been a member for over 30 years. I just wish there were more than just 3 branches in the Denver area.

Opens whenever they feel like it. Was standing, locked outside at 9.21am and employees would just walk past the front door laughing with each other.
