Glacier / Waterton NP A breathtaking tour through a great landscape. Several times, two times in the weather failed (snow), but if it then works well, you have seen a lot - only no glaciers. They have already melted away for a long time, you can see only some old snow from last winter. Go to the national park service page. Three hours drive, overnight in Kalispell MT, to Waterton NP to Canada: Bison enclosure, a lake and a real Glacier. Conclusion: a "must-go" on every northwest-round trip

Stunning National Park, but you must must must bring bear spray. We saw bears at the East Entrance. And please hike in a group of 3 or more, at least in the East Entrance where most of the bear attacks occur; the west entrance is more heavily populated by tourists and shorter hikes. Also National Geographic has an article on the difference between grizzly and black bears - and the different responses one should have depending on their approach - look it up. One only needs to look at bear attack deaths on Wikipedia to see that Glacier NP and Yellowstone are the two most dangerous places for bear attacks. Please be mindful, take bear spray, and travel with a group of 4 if you plan on hiking on the east side. And enjoy this beautifully, protected, precious piece of wilderness. You can watch The Shining for some aerial shots, though the rest of the film is shot elsewhere.

Great National Park. Sufficient time should throw you planned longer hikes, as these are worthwhile. The easy hike to Hidden Lake is great. Just think of a good food and a jacket that protects against the wind. Anyone visiting the North Cascades stop can replace it with the Glacier NP, as this is clearly impressive. Glacier NP I also liked better than Yellowstone.

Great place to hike and/or camp. Glacier-wise there is not much since a lot has melted, but there are beautiful lakes and lots of nice hikes. I heard the avalanche lake trail is pretty neat but I have not gotten able to experience it myself. We went on the Jons-Lake trail and it was very ordinary and not well-made. There were multiple times when the trail led onto a road and then you had no idea where to go next. The drive on the Going-over-the-sun-Road was breathtaking and there were a bunch of neat stops along the side. My favorite was a small glacier on the side of the road which you could walk on and walk through as there was a short tunnel leading through it. Heard the Logan Pass visitors center was pretty neat but the parking lot was full. There is also a shuttle along the road that you can take.

I am sorry to say that we had a negative experience last week at Glacier. The park service is working on the roads on the east side of the park. There is no information given when entering on the west side warning of the closed areas especially on the east side. We entered expecting to spend some quality time hiking. Most of the parking lots were full on the west side, the visitors center on the pass was closed off because of full parking, and ALL of the east side lots were closed. The park service should provide bus transportation to take the pressure off parking at least until the roads ate fixed "in two years!" I have visited six other national parks and have never had such a poor experience. Will never return to this poorly run park.

Beautiful park... poorly managed. My family spent almost a week here in August of 2017. It is a beautiful park, but I highly recommend a Spring or Fall visit. The crowds were atrocious. BE ADVISED ALL PARKING LOTS ARE FULL ON SUMMER DAYS. The free tram lines can be an hour wait. On top of all that they are doing road work during the day time hours and running one way traffic causing hour long delays on the road to the sun. This forced us to miss a booked and paid for boat tour of McDonald Lake. They should be hauling light towers up here and doing road work at night. They mentioned in the local newspaper that July 2017 saw over a million visitors. You have been forewarned if you visit in July or August!

Just escaped from the "Disney" of the National Park System. While the scenery was great, the dense crowds and driving ruin it. Thought we would avoid the crowds by going on Monday...bahahaha. Arrived at Park entrance at 8am. Logans Pass visitor parking completely filled shortly after we arrived. Campgrounds and any pull off all filled up rest of day. Bumper to bumper driving. Nothing but tour buses, bicycles, motorcycles, distracted deivers, and Subaru Foresters/Outbacks. If high pressure, competitive vacationing is your thing, then Glacier NP is for you. Oh and btw...Just witnessed an accident by a stupid distracted driver! Please get me back to our secluded cabin. Disgraceful...

Glacier National Park was established in 1910, is located in northern Montana, and British Columbia, Canada and the Alberta border. Geographically it is located in the northern Rocky Mountains, the famous third point is also within the park, it is the point of intersection of each watershed: rain thirds will eventually point to the east by the Gulf of Mexico into the Atlantic and eventually flows into the Pacific Ocean west of the rain, to North rains eventually into the Arctic Ocean via the Hudson Bay.

To whom it may concern. My wife and I, are a retired Canadian [Alberta] couple. Visiting the wonderful Glacier National Park in your State, for two hours, costs us US $ 30.00. The only pass to the Park is a 7 day pass. The Park does NOT have a day pass. While admiring some of the spots, during our two hours visit, we met up with some wonderful American Elders. We then heard: They only pay $ 10.00 for a lifetime Park pass. Is this not a form of total discrimination ?!!! Do you not like foreign tourism, as you do American, as an income source for your State ?!! Kind regards. John C. Koershuis. 95 GlenEagles Terrace. Cochrane, AB. Canada. T4C 1W5

Overrun by visitors with no where near the accomidations, parking and services required. Incredible to know the population of the US has expanded by nearly 100 million in the last 50 years and this park has not even made an attempt to adjust to the increased popularity. Greatly undermanaged and it shows eveywhere you go. As beautiful as it is (stunning), it is no longer the peaceful vacation destination I remember. My opinion: park managers and the department of the interior need to utilize their resources more efficiently to adjust for population growth. Disappointed in our visit.

Beautiful place. Do not approach a park ranger and ask a question unless you want to be embarrassed. I made the mistake July 10th of asking a female ranger a question. She and her fellow ranger had been sitting in their pickup with lights on for over a hour. I walked up the driver side and was told to go to the back of the truck was told off by a ranger who need to show her authority. Day before my 63rd birthday and being a disable veteran I have never been disrespected like that before in my life especially from someone half my age. So beware if you ask a ranger a question.

This historic park celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2010. The Going to the Sun Highway drive is a must for all to see. Take time to hike Avalanche Creek trail for a terrific surprise at the end of the trail. At Logans Pass Visitor center, take the hike to Hidden Lake. We saw Bighorn Sheep and Mountain Sheep within 50 feet. Plan at least two days in the park and bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the beautiful views each day. Parking can be hard to find. Consider using the shuttles to avoid delays finding a parking spot in popular areas. Ray Birden

The boat ramp at Apgar sucks worse this year than it did last Fall. Possibly the GNP Unimog could be stored at the boat ramp to help those who will get stuck. Thanks much to the Park Law Enforcement for helping me get out of the way, they were prompt and courteous. Now it is the first day of summer, after a call to he park headquarters 2 weeks ago to inform them about the boat ramp condition, I checked the boat ramp again. I was still in bad shape, your tax dollars hard at work !

One of the most gorgeous places on the planet. The best parts of Glacier NP are the ones not visited as much. Two Medicine and Many Glacier are awesome. So are Triple Divide and Bowman Lake. Lastly, rent a boat on Lake McDonald - You will love the experience. I would avoid Going to the Sun Road during peak hours especially on the west side of the divide. There are way too many vehicles to fully enjoy the majesty of Glacier NP. Best to do this early morning or after 7pm.

Sheer natural beauty. The air quality is ultra clean with no haze in the air. Roads are good with exception of some of the passes (going down the sun) which are tight for larger vehicles. NPS has maintained this park very well. One trek in particular I would recommend is the one that takes you right at the foot of glacier. It takes approximately 8-10 hours to complete that trek. But worth spending time if you love trails. Park is full of Moose and RAM ships. Must visit park.

We were on a national park tour and got here after visiting both Grand Teton and Yellowstone, this was definitely the best! The Going to the Sun road while scary, was fantastic! We navigated it in a Chevy Silverado and had some scary moments because the road was so narrow but the views were jaw dropping! Glad we got to see the glaciers before they complete disappear. The only place that was really overcrowded was the visitor center at the summit. Well worth the trip!

"No words can describe the grandeur and majesty of these mountains, and even photographs seem hopelessly to dwarf and belittle even the most impressive peaks." -George Bird Grinnell I am lucky enough to live in the Flathead Valley and GNP is my favorite place in the world. The climbing around here brings some of the greatest views in the world. I would encourage everybody to join the Glacier Mountaineering Society to truly experience these mountains. Simply the best.

The place is spectacular and the trails varied. BUT the trail SIGNAGE is terrible: too small signs, too small lettering size, wrong material (metal is shiny and cannot be read under many conditions), no contrast in color between lettering and background. Check out the signs on the AT in NH -- they work very well: you can see them as you approach decision points and you can read in any light/weather conditions. And being wood they are part of the surroundings.

I was in Glacier for the second to last week of June, and I loved how intense all of the waterfalls, rivers, and streams were. The hiking was astounding, but the views from the car were great as well. Some of the Road to the Sun was closed off due to snow, but that made a several-mile chunk of it an excellent bike ride for cyclists. The sunsets were lovely as well. If you go around the time of the summer solstice, the sun sets very late there (around 9:35PM).

My favorite National Park because the views of mountains and lakes are stunning. Going to the Sun highway is an exciting drive but I prefer Many Glacier Lodge as the trail head to walk deeper into the park. Take the hike to Grinnell Glacier and go to Iceberg Lake. If you have your passport, head north to the Prince of Wales Hotel on Waterton Lake. The boat ride south to Goat Haunt is worth it. Dress warm. Looking forward to going back there soon.

What a beautiful and busy National Park! Always lots of demonstrations going on if you drive Camas Road and Going-to-the-Sun Road there are exhibits along side of the road which tell you about natural areas and wildlife. Very interesting. Very beautiful place if you planning to come here make sure your do Reserve activities you want to do and your campsite. There are lots of campsites grounds here but they were all full when I visited
