A very nice place starting at the bottom with the open air springs across from Arlington Hotel. Then you started climbing up on a variety of trails all the way to the top where they have a huge tower overlooking the entire valley. The walk is really nice and on top there is a gift shop and upon purchasing a $7 ticket you get to take the lift to the top and see the entire Hot Springs area. You walk down and go to lunch and the entire event can take an entire morning or couple of hours depending on your pace. We enjoyed the nature and funny how we where not tired after the entire affair. On the top they have nice picnic areas and of course you can also drive to the top as well (up to the summit and the tower). We decided to climb by foot and enjoy the beautiful forest and surroundings after a 10 years absence.

First off, calling this a national park is kind of a misnomer. When I think of national park, I think of hundreds of acres of unadulterated beauty, wildlife, and landscape. There is no actual hiking, wildlife, or nature here, it is 100% commercial. Having said that, Hot Springs National Park has a lot of really fascinating museums and things to see! The main stretch of town has lots of "bath houses" and spas where you can go and experience the hot springs water. You can rent sessions for as little as 30 minutes, or for even an entire day. I kind of thought the mineral water was a bit of a gimmick, but it did feel extremely relaxing and rejuvenating. Be prepared to want to take a nap afterwards!

For the hikers: Dead Chief trail may only be a quarter mile long, but it is an uphill battle! If you are staying locally, walk on over from your hotel with your hiking gear and plenty of water, there are some great elevation changes and views from all the trails. Pro tip: If you are looking for a blast from the past, take the Arlington Trail back into town and be sure to stay left. You will end up in the Arlington hotel. My wife and I both were equally creeped out, and amazed at this stuck-in-time gem. For the non hikers: If you have solid footwear and have proper hydration equipment, go for a hike and bring a camera. The trailhead in town is a great spot to get a trail map!

We ate at the Brau Haus for dinner 11-17-07. I was not impressed with any aspect of this place. The atmosphere was dark and cave like (in a bad way) This restaurant in general is in dire need of a remodel. The draft beer we had was almost warm and the food was mediocre at very best. Our waitress was indifferent and borderline surly. I could honestly not recommend this place to anyone. I am appalled by the number of positive reviews on this place. I have eaten German food across the United States and the Brau Haus is the worst yet. Very disappointing. I truly have to question the validity of the positive reviews posted here.

Hot Springs National Park is a national park in the United States, next to the central Hot Springs, Arkansas, April 20, 1832, Congress decreed the establishment of protected areas spa, March 4, 1921 in the area a national park. It is the smallest national park in the United States, only 6,000 acres. Because it is the oldest federal protected areas, so in April 2010 became the first-ever release of a beautiful national park 25 cents coins.

Hot water tank can be limited in comparison to Badrinath. To see the bathroom. You can learn the history of art has to be male and female beauty. The oldest restaurant. Ppatum maintain unchanged the streets, looking at the old stores makilattakvai

The camp Ground is nice set. A lot of trees, shades, very spacious. Beautiful in the Fall! Restrooms are clean. Ranger Biscuit is very helpful! He may have some leg problem, but he always walks extra distance to help campers. His big smile and warm greeting made us FEELING LIKE home. He spent time introduce camp and surrounding info and helped us using the registration machine. He has saved us a lot time! It is why we came this campsite, stayed twice!

We were volunteers at the Visitor Center, and stayed in our RV at the campground. Visitor Center is an interesting place to see, and has been restored as a museum. Gift shop is typical. RV campground is very nice, all sites have full hookups, many can handle the biggest rigs, although it is best suited for moderate sizes. There are no showers or bathing facilities, restrooms only. Location is good, very close to town, and easy to get to.

This was a great 1/2 day stop. Not a whole lot there from the National Park perspective. But hey, the Visitor Center (/ Museum?) is free and there is a free municipal parking garage a very short walk away. The viewing tower on top the mountain a short winding drive from the visitor center is well worth it. They charge $8 per person to go up the elevator but really good views and storyboards that give lots of historical perspective to the area.

Love the history and the sites. However, the rangers at the visitor center are highly uninformed. We asked where the best look out spot was in Hot Springs and were told a place up the road. We went and hiked just over 2 miles total and there was no look out spot... I really loved the cell phone tour around Bath House Row. Probably the best cell phone tour I have heard. It takes you around to all the old bath houses.

Its really interesting that most of this National Park is also a town. This National Park also boasts the only brewery (Superior Bathhouse Brewing) that resides within a National Park. The waters are soothing and healing, this was a refuge for old gangsters and this park has loafs of history you may otherwise be unfamiliar with. Technically the oldest NP within the system its also the smallest. Fun facts!

Awesome park, I was able to navigate several points of interest with a stroller. The water is crazy hot, so be cautious with little ones. If you have children, the visitors center at the Fordyce Bathhouse is a must. Pick up a workbook at the front desk, complete the activities and the kiddos get to be sworn in as Junior Park Rangers, complete with a badge and certificate.

NP and a town all wrapped up into one. Most bathhouses are shut down but they remain well kept. The Fordyce is the main visitor center with a nice self-guided tour. A promenade and hiking trails are easily accessible from bathhouse row and provide a short walk to the Hot Springs Mountain Tower. Small fee gets you a great view of the surrounding area from atop the tower.

I choose Hot Springs because it is the smallest National Park covering about 8 square miles. It was a great destination for a recent short road trip I took to escape the approaching winter in Wisconsin. I easily found my way around the park and enjoyed the drive up the hill on the curving road. I only wish I had some empty jugs to fill up at the water spigot.

A great place to bring your family. The predecessor to the National Park system was the Federal Reserve. Hot Springs was the First Federal Reserve. There is a great deal of history here. From the Native Americans, to the Spanish Conquistadors, Hot Springs has see it all. Billy the Kid to Al Capone, to Major League Baseball Camps being held right here.

An oddity of National Parks as it literally is the downtown area of Hot Springs, but still a quick, interesting place to visit. The restored bathhouse/headquarters building has a terrific guided tour, the actual hot springs nearby are fun to find, and the hillside behind bathhouse row has some great, short trails worth hiking in nice weather.

Although very different from what I originally imagined this park to be, it turned out to be pretty cool! The bathhouse tour was pretty interesting, even my daughters aged 7, and 11 enjoyed it. The mountain tower was over-priced and while it offered an very good view of the area, there is not really much to see. We will be going back.

Great place for families! A lot of stuff to see and learn about the history. Whether you want to know about Babe Ruth practices or a gangster who came to town, traveling through underground tunnels. Fantastic!! Now there are even Pokémon characters located downtown for those using the app on their phone. Love this place!!

There is a lot of outdoor stuff to do. The hike was fun but be prepared with little kids for it to be a bit of a stretch for them. Bring lots of water. The views are wonderful and the trail is a great one. Lots of markers and easy to follow. There are also benches along the way to rest of one needs to.

After making a clearly honest mistake in our choice of camping site we were kicked out of the park by the rangers at 10:30 @ night...they informed us we needed to use the trail maps available at the forestry station...which was closed that day. Apparently we were supposed to be grateful not to get a ticket.

If you love the national parks for their beauty, adventure, and amazing natural wonder, this is not the park for you. Extremely touristy with minimal redeeming qualities. Aside from the cool geological phenomenon that gave rise to so many hotels, spas, and bath houses there is very little of interest.

Hey Diana
We thought Hot Springs was just a National Park. Which it is. A must is the going up the hill and seeing the wonderful views. The Welcome Center is an old spa, definitely a must see. Also there are Spas to enjoy soaking in the water from the Hot Springs. Lots of shopping & bars to visit too.

Food was good, but the service sucked! Big party in the back room was too much for our waitress. Ordered appetizer and she only brought half of it. 20 minutes later when she brought entree I asked where the other part was and she said she forgot. Never got a drink refill. Will not return.

Nice town! The hike is very peaceful but the real reason to come here is the bath houses in the nearby town. There are many options available for bathhouses at different price ranges but a 1 hour bath in multiple tubs followed by a Swedish massage feels so good after a night of camping.

Beautiful views on the mountain, worth it only for that. The tourist town of Hot Springs leaves much to be desired. Many of the shops are over priced for what they are and a lot of the clerks were exceptionally indifferent to the patrons. Seriously would it kill anyone to smile?

so cool. Lots to do. Old bath houses and real hot spring water made available on tap downtown to take home. Beautiful Lake Hamilton. Great horse racing facility, home of Arkansas Derby. National Park area, great views. Many restaurants and stores and hotels. Gaming facility.

Neat urban national park. Very unique among the 59 U.S. national parks. Well worth a visit. The surrounding mountains are very pretty. The bathhouses are architectural marvels and there is a nice mountain drive. Walk the beautiful promenade and feel free to drink the water.

Fun destination for a quick getaway. Very relaxing. Be sure to start at the National Park Visitors Center in Fordyce Bathhouse. The video helps put the entire park and bathhouse row in perspective. Then, everyone should experience a real bathhouse! Very unique experience.

Beautiful small town at the bottom of the mountain. Offering lots of unique small stores and boutiques and many many restaurants. The bathhouses there are amazing and offers a unique opportunity to take a mineral baths or Swim and relax in one of their mineral pools.

Great visit! Neat self guided tour through the historic bathhouse. My entire family ages 11-45 enjoyed it. Something for everyone. After my kiddos saw the bathing process, they wanted one too :) Make this your first stop on Hot Springs!

Fascinating place. I felt like I stepped back in time to the 60s. It was honestly a bit of a culture shock. Part of that probably comes from our stay in the Arlington hotel which is unupdated. Once we got past that it was a fin trip.

Nice place to go for a camping. You need not even take your grill with you as they provide you with Iron grill in every camping spot and you can get wood for very cheap like $5 which is sufficient to cook for 12 hours at a stretch.
